Catholics and street evangelists

As a convert I’d LOVE to see Catholic street evangelists. They would have a full plate just “preaching at” fallen-away Catholics. I like to seek out fallen-away Catholics who are searching for God in Protestant churches (most people in my social circles are Protestant) & engage them in items of faith, especially WHY they left the Church.

In my very limited & informal pollings, it appears the #1 reason why: poor Catechesis - both at the parrish & home church. They simply don’t know the faith or are horribly misinformed about it. Most know little about the Sacraments especially Confirmation. Surprizingly most are open to hearing my story & ask why I would want to come into the Church. So far none have come back but I get them to think about it. As Mike said previously, it has to be the work of Holy Spirit.

Another thing I’ve noted in my journey. The adult children of most older (50+ yrs) devout Catholics are fallen-away. Rarely do I find a multi-generational, healthy Catholic family. Yes, Protesatants can have this problem but nothing compared to the degree seen in Catholics.

After prayer & contemplation about this issue, our Lord has led me to be a part of the Confirmation program at my parish. We’re using the Life Teen (Edge) model & its awesome. We’ve regularly have some kids go home & evangelize their parents on faith issues. One family at a time. Go God!

Apparently you people have never seen

I lead the Dallas, Tx Chapter.
I started viewing their site everyday - its a great website and they offer a huge selection in resources and tools for learning to evangelize. Cost is very economical! I think this is really important - we have the opportunity to bring Jesus into the hearts of many people whose path we cross each day.

May God pour out Blessings both spiritual and physical on all those who participate in some way with this important apostolate.

St Paul Street Evangelization started in Portland, Ore in May of 2012 with just a handful of people. We are now in 80+ cities, Australia, and the Philippines.
I started the first Dallas Chapter, and our 7th one will soon be going.

Cool website & ministry. I’ll look into the training & forward the link to a priest-friend, who told me he didn’t know of any Catholic street outreach. Thanks:)

for others it is the fear that they might lose their salvation if they leave what they believe to be authentic Christianity
Wasn’t once and forever saved a tenet of most of the denominations that produce the street preachers; that once one accepted Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior they could never lose their salvation?

Yes. Most preach this, but not all.
