From reading a lot of the contributions posted here by Protestants, it is obvious that Catholics are wasting their precious time and energy on the Protestants. 🙂

By the SAME token, the Protestants are wasting their precious resources too! 😉

The Catholic Church calls Protestants ‘our seperated brethren’.

The emphasis is not on ‘seperated’ but ‘brethren’. 👍

Looking at the state of the secular world, which is not so much going from bad to worse, but starts at worse and is going to oblivion. 😦

Are we not both failing in our duty to Mat 20:19 by worrying too much BLAMING EACH OTHER about how the fire started rather than joining forces to PUT THE RUDDY FIRE OUT!! :o

Forget ‘war on terror’ we should be concentrating our unique gifts and talents to engage, fight and win the war on athiest secularism. 😃

Speaking as an agnostic secular humanist (hey, it’s close), I don’t wanna fight you guys. Can’t we accept our differences like gentlefolk and leave well enough alone? 😦

You know my minister asked us today why we dont go out and shout our Good News from the rooftops.

Jesus Christ is risen today and He is alive!! That is THE BEST news anyone human could get.:extrahappy: But we(christians)choose not to share:( WHY?

If we won the lottery we would tell people–that is only money.

Eternal life is ETERNAL. Where would you like to spend eternity?

I think we(christians)should absolutely share the Good News about Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. But, we need to share in love and then let it go and let God do the rest. God may choose to save that person or not but we are told to share the News.👍

I shared with a friend the other day and they didnt believe me.I didnt argue with this person , I just simply stated my case for Christ and that was all I could do. No point in trying to cram it down anyone’s throat. I just prayed for them and gave it up to God to deal with.👍

Well done Al for HIm. I believe that is EXACTLY the right response: 'doing what we can and leaving the rest up to Him 👍

I’m very glad that certain Catholics didn’t give up on me.

Our RCIA class was told by the priests in our church that throughout the years, many of the elderly ladies have made a commitment to pray daily for Protestants to come into the Catholic Church.

Thank God for those ladies! And thank God for the Catholics who kept answering my questions and didn’t give up on me no matter how arrogant I acted. And thank God for the Catholics who didn’t get spooked by my evangelical “Bible knowledge.”

Certainly I agree that Protestants and Catholics shouldn’t fight. But IMO, for Catholics to just let Protestants remain Protestants is like a rich dude letting the poor live in shacks outside of his estate.

Hi,
Im sure you would agree that all you can do for us is pray and tell us what you believe and then leave it to God. 😃

I partially agreed. While we pray for others to see the truth, we are responsible for standing up for our Truth and to help others to know the truth.

God wants us to pray and also gives us wisdom, love, humility, etc … to help others to know the truth.

The apostles weren’t just praying in the closed doors, but they spoke up.

I am not sitting here doing nothing while someone who comes in here bashing Catholics without having a clue what Catholic is. While I am not supporting fighting and bashing back, a nice conversation can be very beneficial.

This proves that conversation with love has helped someone:

That is a very Jehovah’s Witnessesque thing to say:rolleyes:
I say that Christians should all stop trying to convert one another and focus on the Infidel and heathen. It bothers me to see all the missionaries which Christian churches send to places like ENGLAND and AUSTRIA, why should US missionaries go to nations which are already Christian and have been for centuries? I say send all missionaries to Muslim lands and the deep jungles of Asia where they may do some good for our churches.

I disagree, I have learn very much about how to defend my faith by being here “debating Catholics.” I know many of the Catholics here are here for the same purpose.

I do agree though that being a missionary to Christian Countries is not all that productive.

Hi Sixtus -

I’m sorry, but I must disagree with these assessments. While it is certainly true in some cases, many people who have visited here have been enlightened (see the previous post!). Some have even said that they’ve converted.

And for ecumenism, I belong to a parish that is very active ecumenically. For instance, we have breakfasts and lunches with local churches that include two Baptist churches, one Episcopal church, two Methodist churches, a Seventh Day Adventist church, and a Church of Christ Scientist.

Just this last Friday I took part in an ecumenical service that included the Baptist churches, the Episcopal, a Methodist and our Catholic parish. We took part in The Way of the Cross. It was nice. One of the Baptist churches hosted it (we all take turns) and we walked around the neighborhood and visited the Episcopal church as a part of the service. One of the Episcopal priests carried the cross.

Many of the churches around the state do the same thing.

That is fantastic.

It is quite normal for siblings to argue, but that doesn’t mean they do not love each other.

Quite the opposite in fact, against the outside world often quietely and secretly fight each others corner. There is a solidarity. It is just that it is my belief we should be working together as witness to the world.

We may think we argue in private but we do not. What we say to each other is very public, it is witnessed by the agnostic wider world who then use ‘what we say and do’ as a testimony against believing in Christ.

That is what I meant when I said 'we need spend less energy and time arguing about who caused the fire and work together to extinguish it 🙂

Let me quote Fr. Corapi.

He said to his Baptist minister friends. “I’m glad you are in My Church.”

“What? I’m no darn Catholic.”

Fr. Corapi replied. "Are you not baptized in Christ? Is the Church the Mystical Body of Christ? So yes, you are a member of My Church…

Protestant or Orthodox, you are a member of the Church. Neither you like it or not, you are Catholic who who just pick and choose doctrines that fit your understanding of God.

Besides the Bible is a Catholic Bible.

Protestants came from the Catholic Church, the Orthodox came out of the Catholic Church. In the Beginning of Christianity, Jesus establish One Church upon Peter, whom Jesus grafted into Himself.

So I can rightly call you, my separated brothers and sisters in Christ, My brother and sisters.

It’s true that ecumenism is something of a lost cause. Not long ago, I was invited to join a Bible discussion group at work. Because our professional environment can so overwhelmingly negative, I thought it sounded like a good idea. The person who invited me knew I am Catholic, but eagerly sought my participation, nonetheless. So, I went. Within five minutes, the discussion became anti-Catholic. I spoke up in defense of my religion. We then read from a fundamentalist workbook, and followed the direction of our head football coach in our discussions. I shook everyone’s hand afterward, but never returned. I can tell some of them are upset. They won’t talk openly about it, since it’s a religious issue and we work in a public school. I now realize I was wrong to have attended that first session. Fundies will never accept Catholics, and vice versa.

We have a missionary from our church that is going into the Sudan soon. I am concerned for her but she is one mighty warrior for Christ:extrahappy:
