This is the so-called “ecumenism of the return”. It is no longer in vogue among those at the top of the Church hierarchy (see here):

Cardinal Walter Kasper, Prefect of Vatican Council for Promoting Christian Unity: “… today we no longer understand ecumenism in the sense of a return, by which the others would ‘be converted’ and return to being Catholics. This was expressly abandoned by Vatican II.” (Adista, Feb. 26, 2001)
we might need to examine closely Kasper’s intention and his view. it does not seem to be the same as the holy father’s. there are many opposition to BXVI in what he wants to do. watch the liberals in the Church.

i just read that the bishops in USA are resisting the pope on how the CC should conduct their services and language. the bishps here are calling the language archaic. the holy father wants to do what is right but the liberal hereticals are working hard to put the faithfull against the pope.

we dont quite understand what is going with the Church right now. it is not for us to know. it is for us to trust that Our Lord is in charge and everything will be allright.

now is the time for great discernment.

Maybe our Church does not have all the answers we are looking for?
Our Catholic Church has all the Answers and above all we have the TRUTH! Given to us from Jesus Christ, handed to The Apostles and to thier Successors, until the end of time.

Many leave the Catholic Church because they can’t handle the TRUTH!

Read “Parable of the Seed explained” (Mark 4: 13-19) Jesus, here explains all the trouble that many Catholics will go through and so they leave the catholic faith.

Jesus, here explains the faithful Catholic in: (Mark 4: 20)But those sown on good soil are the ones who LISTEN to the WORD, take it to HEART, and yield at Thirty- and Sixty- and a HUNDREDFOLD.

Many so called catholics, those who have left, or will leave in the future, dont’ LISTEN to the WORD and do not take it to HEART and they produce NOTHING. The Word is TRUTH!

To say that The Catholic Church does not have all the answers that people want to here, is rubbish. It is not what WE want to HEAR, but what Jesus Christ, wants US to HEAR past , present, and future through his Catholic Church. AMEN.

Good quote. I would add, from the Vatican II decree Unitatis Redintegratio:
However, it is evident that, when individuals wish for full Catholic communion, their preparation and reconciliation is an undertaking which of its nature is distinct from ecumenical action. But there is no opposition between the two, since both proceed from the marvelous ways of God.

On the topic of Catholics attending non-Catholic Christians services, one of the most interesting things, to me, is this from the New Commentary on the Code of Canon Law, page 1145: “The former Ecumenical Directory of 1967 granted a privilege permitting Catholics to fulfill their Sunday and holy day obligation at the divine liturgy of a separated Eastern church” [e.g. Eastern Orthodox] “This privilege was suppressed in the 1993 Directory for the Application of the Principles and Norms on Ecumenism”

The Catholic Church is run by people ( men)…very fallible men, just like every other corporation in the world and just like all the other protestant denominations.

Remember that…there is no monopoly on truth.

My understanding is that Mary’s perpetual virginity isn’t a dogma but it is a very firmly established and agreed-upon teaching. (Not that that answers your question. :o )
Actually, it is a dogma - it is one of four Marian dogmas that we as Catholics must believe, in order to have the proper foundation to understand our faith correctly.

The other three are:

She was Immaculately conceived (and thus receives the title “The Immaculate Conception”).

While a virgin, she gave birth to God the Second Person, in the flesh (and thus receives the title “Mother of God”).

She was assumed bodily into Heaven (thus receiving the title “Queen of Heaven”).

Many leave the Catholic Church for all sorts of reasons.

Yes, but the Catholic Church does not have a monopoly on truth.

Why only the Catholic Church? Why not the Universal Church of Christians? Why would salvation have become institutionalized in such a manner that salvation is possible only through the Church?**

How could Mary be sinless? How could a person live a whole life without even making one mistake? Not even a bad thought or becoming angry or frustrated?

Isn’t the Church making broad assumptions about Mary, by interpreting the various names she was called by Angels and therefor infer that she had to have been sinless? If she was sinless, did God keep her sinless by messing with her free will or did she have some kind of a power that no one else has?

It was through the grace of God; but that doesn’t mean that God messed with her free will.

After all, recall that Adam and Eve were sinless, at least for a time, even though they had free will.

They were sinless for about 10 minutes!

I don’t know how anyone could live a life without even one bad thought. Why does original sin apply to everyone, except Mary?
