I’ve visited this site and read that book.

I recently returned to the Catholic Church after 7 or so years. In the interim I had been attending an Evangelical Church.

Both the site and the book were great and gave me the courage to make an appt with the parish priest and go to confession after 30 years. I was able to receive communion this past Sunday.

As I mentioned both were great resources and answered lots of questions i had…👍
 
Unfortunately the site gives a security certificate error and it asks for a zip code so I cannot view the site safely in my opinion. I hope they get it fixed soon as I would really like to see the site. 🙂
 
I was recently told about this site… It’s really well done and should be a great outreach to Catholics who left the faith.

May God use the site to bring people home!

Thank you for the tip on the book. I have been feeling the call lately, having been lapsed since I made my first Communion close to 40 years ago. Well, I met with the pastor of the local parish, read the book, attended mass today, adn am starting RCIA on Wednesday!
 
Does anyone know if permission is needed by catholicscomehome.com for anyone to just buy a commercial spot at their local radio station for the audio version of these tv ads to be aired? Perhaps you could just play the audio from the videos like the way mentioned above?

It would be awesome if a movement could get started around the country to get parishes to raise money to do this. I don’t see that being a difficult task. The work is done for you. You just have to take it to the radio station. Thoughts?!

Their stuff if copyrighted. You would have to seek out permission… but who knows, perhaps they can even help you put that into motion.
 
I think the main ad is awersome. Unfortuantely lots of it are cut out in the EWTN radio spots. Like mentioning the recent Popes. The visual is much stronger than the audio IMO.

Patrick Madrid wrote some of the site stuff and said it is being tersted in major markets.

But from what I have seen it is only being tested in Phoenix. And the audio is aired on EWTN radio. The site even says they won’t expand to other markets till at least next year.

So what is the story?

I saw the spot regularly during Lent on local Fox 10 haven’t seen it since. A friend of mine from my parish was interviewed and his made the regular T.V. spot.
 
A friend of mine suggested our priest to include video similar to this website on our parish’s website but I think there will be video for different ministries such as Nursing Home ministry, St Vincent De Paul, KofC , etc …
 
I think the Epic ad is stunning. It draws you in, the music is perfect.

To make it better. Well, it is so good it should be made generic. Not only for Catholics who have fallen away but for those searching. As such I’d change the ending. The priest shaking hands with a parishonner. Probably the only weak point in the ad.

To re-inforce the Biblical nature of the church - where it refers to Peter as the first Pope, I’d add the Scriptuaral reference.

Also, where it says cities are named after Saints, I’d cut back the long shot of the St. Louis arch (many don’t know it) and add a shot of the Golden Gate brige too.

My critque of a great ad. Meant in the most constructive of senses. Cause the ad is awesome. I’d love to see the reaction if it were aired during American Idol or Dancing With The Stars or CSI in just one of the 4 big markets. LA, NY, Bay Area or Chicago.
 
The Catholicscomehome e-mail update “says” it has won a Telly award for advertising. I put it in quotes as they do not provide a link.

First off, does anyone have an official link to the Telly awards that might confirm this, and are the Telly awards anything? I’d never heard of them before.
 
Pope John Paul II encouraged a new evangelization. He said that modern media should be used toward that end. This group wants to help not just former or lapsed Catholics but those curious about our faith:
