Catholics for Choice (CFC) took out a full page ad in this morning’s Washington Post with the ridiculous charge that “[t]he United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is directing healthcare policy in the United States.” Funny, I did not see any miters making their way down the aisles of the House chamber to cast their votes but maybe I wasn’t watching closely.
The ad goes on to warn of what they see as dire consequences of the bishops’ involvement, claiming “There will be: No access to abortion – even in cases of rape or incest; No in-vitro fertilization; No contraception…” Well you get the picture. They conclude: “Your healthcare will contain nothing that doesn’t meet the myriad litmus tests prescribed by a small group of men who don’t represent American Catholics, let alone the American people.”

Disgusting! Can anyone tell me why we as orthodox Catholics listen to a group such as Catholics for Choice? I say we shouldn’t. We should not ignore them though. We should pray for them and refute their disgusting pro-abortion claims. 👍

I wonder at whom this ad was directed towards. Certainly not Catholics. The intent seems to be to stir up anti Catholic feelings among those who are undecided regarding abortion. At any rate, there isn’t really anything to fear from the CFC crowd. As the article mentioned, any political attempt to make the CFC agenda law, would simply result in many middle of the road supporters losing their seats in Congress to more conservative lawmakers, not because it is easily labeled as liberal on the political scale, but because it simply doesn’t make much sense to most folks.

I don’t know anyone that listens with the exception of people like Patrick Kennedy and his brand of catholics

Jon O’Brien who runs so called catholics for choice (notice small case letters) and his group that run the site with him have been charged with heresy and violation of Canon Law by the Catholic Church Cardinals and Bishops. cfc members are excommunicated until they go to Reconciliation repent for their mortal sins and shut the site down.

👍 I think we really need a well-compiled criminal’s list… with all the excommunicants and their ‘mug shots’😃 so that priests don’t need to keep up with the news in order to enforce this.

How can they say the bishops do not represent catholics? is this group catholics for choice even members of the catholic church? Why don’t the bishops just excomunicate them they are after all assisting in the procurment of abortion?

. . . .
I don’t think you’ll find many orthodox Catholics listening to them. I know I certainly don’t.
