Catholics have had this all along...

but some Christians are just learning the benefits of confession:

mysecret.tv/
Believe you me, plenty of cradle Catholics (myself included) have only recently rediscovered the benefits of confession, or at least of frequent confession 😃

Good point however, I know a very ‘high’ Anglican (the Americans would call them Episcopalian) church nearby which I believe offers scheduled confession times as do the vast majority of Catholic churches.

By the way, Catholics ARE Christians, in fact we consider ourselves to be THE original Christian church, along with the Orthodox. It can be seen as a bit of an insult to refer to ‘Christians’ as if we Catholics aren’t Christian - simply say non-Catholics.

Jesus’ words to Sister Faustina about the Sacrament of Confession < link to Diary.

----- When you go to confession, to this fountain
of My mercy
, the blood and water which came
forth from my heart always flow down upon
your soul and ennoble it. Every time you go
to confession, immerse yourself entirely in My
mercy, with great trust so that I may pour the
bounty of My grace upon your soul. When you
approach the confessional, know this, that I
Myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden
by the priest, but I Myself act in your soul. Here
the misery of the soul meets the God of Mercy.
Tell souls that from this Fount of Mercy souls
draw graces solely with the vessel of trust.
If their trust is great, there is no limit to my
generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble
souls. The proud remain always in poverty and
misery, because my grace turns away from them
to humble souls. (1602)
----- Tell souls where they are to look for solace;
that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy. There the greatest --<-T of M = Confessional
miracles take place and are incessantly repeated.
To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary
to go on a great pilgrimage or to carry out some
external ceromony; it suffices to come with faith
to the feet of My representative and to reveal to
him one’s misery and the miracle of Divine Mercy
will be fully demonstrated. Were a soul like a
decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint,
there would be no hope of restoration and everything
would already be lost, it is not so with God. The
Miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full.
Oh, how miserable are those who do not take
advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy! You will
call out in vain, but it will be too late.

I typed that directly from my book but then I found a link that has part of the same paragraphs from the book.

The image below is how Jesus appeared to Saint Faustina when she was a nun in the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. (I was born on her feast day, Our Lady of Mercy!)
He appeared to her back in early 1900’s and told her that He is Mercy itself and that He will return first as a merciful Savior before appearing as a Just Judge.

Click to hear how this image matches the Shroud of Turin. Make sure to click on the green play button once you get the webpage. I don’t like what the priest says about what Jesus supposedly said to Sister Faustina about how the painting came out.
Jesus asked Sr. Faustina to paint His image as she saw Him so that people could venerate it. He asked that the words, “Jesus, I trust In You” be printed on the image also.
Jesus made promises to all who venerate this image with prayer and deeds of mercy.
Jesus’ promises to those who venerate the image;
*****The Grace of Salvation
*****Great progress on the road to Christian perfection
*****The Grace of a happy death
*****All other Graces and temporal blessings which people
who practice mercy will ask Him for with trust.

Here are the words from Jesus to Sister Faustina about the painting… from paragraph 313 in her Diary;
Once, when I was visiting the artist (Eugene Kazimirowski)
who was painting the image, and saw that it was not as
beautiful as Jesus is, I felt very sad about it, but I hid this
deep in my heart. When we had left the artist’s house,
Mother Superior (Irene) stayed in town to attend to some
matters while I returned home alone. I went immediately
to the chapel and wept a good deal. I said to the Lord,
“Who will paint you as beautiful as you are?” Then I heard
these words:
“Not in the beauty of the color, nor of the
brush lies the greatness of this image, but in my Grace.”

Every time I see that image I cry. First happy tears http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/CryHappytear.gif then sad. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/Cry.gif How can anyone NOT love Jesus. He has such great mercy for us and we should trust in His mercy.

No one can ever love us the way Jesus loves us. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/Jesus.gif http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/hug.gif
I wish someone could make a hug Jesus smiley.

Lily I know it’s off-topic, but there was nothing in the OP that gave me the impression the OP was calling Catholics non-Christians? Some Christians are Catholics, and some are not.

My apologies OP - I didn’t notice that it was ‘some’ Christians so you were rightfully including us among the Christian fraternity :tiphat:

Easy to get oversensitive about such things here :o

When I clicked on that link I noted it said “secrets”
Well, confession for Catholics is not limited to secrets.

Without valid orders how does one get absolution anyway? Whatever floats their boat I say.

I love being a Catholic because we dont make a mockery of the many sacred gifts that were given to us by Jesus.

I may be wrong and might have missed something, cause after the page opened up I got a bit disgusted and just clicked off it.

Indeed. Confessing your sins to a priest and God in order to receive advice as well as His absolution is a different thing entirely to blurting out your life’s darkest moments (which may or may not actually be mortal sins) to strangers on the internet.

 Please do tell, which link are you talking about?

EDIT…Nevermind, I found the link. I almost forgot about the OP. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/Laughing.gif For a second there I thought you were talking about one of my links. :o whew…

But I agree with you about that website. This is not what Jesus was talking about and for the OP to say that this is what we had all along would be inaccurate.

No problem A.F. I should have been more specific but I was sorta stunned by the OP’s link and I went a bit numb.

I didn’t mean to cause an uproar.

I just meant that Catholics have had this (well, something better called sacrament of confession) for how many years, and the site (in the link) seems to think it’s some kind of “novelty…” kind of like reinventing the wheel, kwim?

I believe the point of the OP was not to advocate the link, but to say perhaps it’s a good thing that some nonCatholic Christians are beginning to learn the importance of James 5:19and the value of confession?

I didn’t mean to cause an uproar.
Don’t worry. YOU didn’t cause an uproar at all.
It’s just that website is somewhat disturbing. But we know what you meant. 😉 I guess you just needed to be a wee bit clearer and maybe stated that we at least have the Sacrament that Jesus Christ instituted in His Church with the Apostles.

Yes, yes… that’s better. 😃

They seem to think that they are the ones that thought of it. LOL

:yup: I guess. But nonetheless, I feel just fine the way we confess our sins because we actually get absolution and we know for sure that our sins are fogiven. 🙂 Who knows what happens with these people on that website. I can probably imagine that they do get some kind of grace from God for doing this but I know it’s not Sanctifying Grace as it is with us in the Tribunal of Mercy that is the Confessional.
