The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati took a high-tech approach to helping people deal with holiday stress Thursday with its first online chat.
With only a few technical problems, the archdiocese provided an hour of questions and answers with Sandy Keiser, a licensed independent social worker with Catholic Social Services.
Keiser responded to about 15 questions, including how to get into the spirit of Christmas after losing a spouse this year, how to deal with a divorce and what to do if your children hear the “truth” about Santa.
“Explain that Santa is a symbol of giving. Giving is a part of the spirit of Christmas; or read a children’s version of the real Christmas story. Ask your child how he or she thinks Santa fits with that story,” Keiser wrote to a chat-room participant named Fred.
