“Zundrah” I share you love and devotion of Pope John Paul II. He is awesome!
I’d like to share with you, two experiences I have had with Pope John Paul II: An “event” experience; and a prayer experience.
The event: I was blessed to still be living in Los Angeles, when Pope John Paul II visited there, in 1987. Our parish had a limited number of tickets available (Lottery style) to attend the Holy Fathers Mass at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Through the immense grace of God… my mother, my sister and I… ALL “won” tickets. I think we were the only “family” present on the parish bus, as entry for the lottery was by single names. I still don’t know how that happened! With God… all things are possible!
We first traveled to the streets of Los Angeles, where we stood in the crowds as the Holy Father drove by, in the Pope Mobile. We received both a nod and a blessing from John Paul II! He looked right at us! And if that wasn’t enough… we were then privileged to attend the Papal Mass at the Los Angeles Coliseum and receive MORE blessings from the Holy Father! It was a day, I will never forget!
The prayer experience: After the death of my dad in 1988… I began to suffer from depression and I drifted away from the practice of the faith. I became a lapsed Catholic. About 4 years ago… I had a “conversion experience” and wanted to return to the practice of our faith. I credit this “conversion” to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. But she, in turn… sent me some AMAZING assistance, in the form of intercessory prayer… from Pope John Paul II.
I had begun to pray… asking him to help me find the courage to go to Confession for the first time, so that I could be received back into the Faith and the Sacraments. BOY, DID HE COME THROUGH!

Not ONLY did I receive the grace to make my confession… but afterwards, when Father gave me my penance… he said these words: “For your penance, I ask you to
BE NOT AFRAID.”
Well, I nearly fell over backwards… off the kneeler.

Everyone knows, that “Be Not Afraid” was a common saying of Pope John Paul II. It was then, that I was absolutely certain that the Servant of God, Pope John Paul II had heard my prayer and had gained for me, the graces I had requested.
After that, I prayed to John Paul II… and asked him to please be the special “Patron” of my immediate family. And I have had reason to believe that he has graciously accepted. I keep a small photo of him, in my room. He smiles at me… and reminds me that God loves me and wants me in Heaven, too… one day.
Servant of God, Pope John Paul II… pray for us! SANTO SUBITO! (“make him a saint soon!”)
God bless you!
