Actually there was an atheist a few decades ago who made that very same point. It was written up in one of their publications.
 
They have hear # 1 repeated to them over and over.

Tree leaves are blue, tree leaves are blue…over and over again and teach it in school and tree leaves will be blue.

His concern is maintaining the doctrine of marriage, and clearly Genesis informs us about important truths about marriage.

Eve literally coming from Adam’s side has no bearing on his point, if you read it.

Still the vast majority in the POLL clearly recognize that Catholics can accept evolution. Over 80% even accept evolution of the human body.

To my relief, Catholics readily acknowledge what the magisterium – and mainstream Catholic voice – tell us: That the Genesis account has theological truths, but it is not a scientific textbook. That Catholics can embrace science, even if we must remember limitations placed by our faith. That we can accept evolution of biological organisms as the method God utilized to bring about the diversity of creation and even the human body.

These same Catholics will also tell you
The Eucharist is the real presence
The Pope is the vicar of Christ
Confession is a sacrament
Mary was immaculately conceived
God created the Universe

Do you doubt their orthodoxy?

Or the Popes figures - yeah, let em’ research all they want. Science will eventually find the truth and we all will be happy. The Church is not anti-science. She encourages its honest and correctly reasoned findings.

And just that is happening with the intelligent design view.

God knew what Adam would like, whether that means God directly willed each and every cell and tissue and bone structure and strand of hair is beyond my knowledge, but he could still achieve that via evolution.

81% I think that about clears up the false idea that creationist’s of the literal persuasion dominate this forum or what the Church thinks. lol.

No. 81% accept that all life on Earth evolved from single-celled organisms that lived roughly 3.5 billion years ago. And the church is not against it. We have not been condemned.

How do you explain that?
