Great, just what is needed, protests by overwrought Christians which will further advertise this artefact and bring even more people along to see what the fuss is about.
Thats not really helpful is it?
Nor is this topic.

What would be more helpful is an insightful critique of their understanding of the Fall.

The group, which does not believe in the existence of Satan, has a right to assemble, they are not anarchistic and seem to contribute to society. They have as much right to display their art and propogate their views as do Christians or Flat Earthers or Star Wars nuts. I am glad I live in Christian society whose values allow that…unlike in Russia, China, or many Middle Eastern places. That attitude alone will insure Christianity survives and is supported by the many fringe groups we shelter…for even they surely know that without Christian tolerance their minority views would be repressed.

Well, legality aside, it’s still an offense against God and decency, whether done by “true Satan-worshippers” or not.

But at the same time, these Satanist groups don’t seem to really believe in Satan, as you’ve said. They’re more like atheists who want to attract attention to themselves through shock value. So, things like rosary vigils seem to play right into their hands and give them that attention they want so badly.

They may say they’re atheists. They may just be doing this for shock value. But even if they don’t really ‘believe’ in Satan, they’re still doing his work. Their assertion that God does not exist IS what Satan wants. And, indifference to the Catholic Church is what Satan wants.

Good on those Catholics with the fortitude and the simple faith to pray the Rosary, the sword of Our Lady, in front of that Satanic display.

I think the last paragraph of Hilaire Belloc’s ‘The New Paganism’ is fitting here:

‘There it is quite wrong, and upon that note I will end. Men do not live long without gods; but when the gods of the New Paganism come they will not be merely insufficient, as were the gods of Greece, nor merely false; they will be evil. One might put it in a sentence, and say that the New Paganism, foolishly expecting satisfaction, will fall, before it knows where it is, into Satanism.’

Sincere prayer has power. These Catholics may in fact bring about the removal of the offensive images.
If they do not, it’s still worth praying to God in reparation for those who performed the offense.

Regarding ‘Christian tolerance.’

We should never, ever tolerate Satan. To paraphrase the words of Pope Francis in his book on the Our Father;

‘Do not dialogue with Satan. He is more intelligent than we are. All we can say is ‘Get back!’

Once the devil has convinced us that the worship of him, or the lack of worship of Jesus Christ, is ‘tolerable,’ he has won.

The satanic temple is a hate group set up to attack Christianity. It’s statue is clearly meant to mock, attack, belittle, and condescend Christianity.

How does this statue not create a hostile work environment for Christians who work there?

I think it would be appropriate to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet in front of the monstrosity.

“For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world

I’m truly shocked and saddened to hear any professed Catholic disparage praying the Rosary.

I beg to differ, MANY Christians have a no-tolerance
attitude towards ALL things even remotely smacking
of the demonic, it is better to build up a tolerance of
demonic activity, perhaps a little at a time, b/c when
confronted by devils, will they not go into anaphylaxis
type of extreme allergic reaction similar to peanut-
allergic ppl.?

Sorry, I think people who hold diiffering views from Christians are still human, still reasonable still have rights and still worthy of respect providing they keep basic natural law. They are not Satan and should not be depersonalised or objectified in this sort of fashion. It is a false Christianity that would do so.
It is the very nature of Apologetics to dialogue in reasonable and charitable fashion with groups that do not see eye to eye with Christian belief.

No, you should not compare the devil to a food allergy. This is not a medical issue. It’s a battle for souls.

Jesus didn’t tolerate Satan when he was tempted by him in the desert. He didn’t dialogue with Satan or act like he was just some cartoon character prodding him with a silly pitchfork. The Scriptures, Daniel and Revelation especially, do not convey a spirit of tolerance. They depict warfare.

Nor do the Saints speak of tolerating demonic activity. They speak of spiritual combat, of warfare for our souls. We implore St. Michael the Archangel to ‘cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits.’

Eve tolerated and dialogued with Satan. Mary, the New Eve, crushes his head.

As a confident Christian secure in my faith and God working outside the Church I do not need to belittle or demonise those who find fault in the Church, which is still sinful and makes gross errors because, though holy to God, is nevertheless also a human institution.
Insecurity is not made secure by attacking others who make us feel insecure.

Who said they weren’t human?

I disagree, strongly, with the rest of what you said. The worship of Satan, even by someone who had been deceived that the Deceiver does not exist, is not reasonable.

It’s a false Christianity to do what, exactly? To pray the Rosary in front of a demonic demonstration? To engage in spiritual warfare?

Who said they weren’t human?
May I politely suggest you reread your posts above.
If you cannot see how dehumanising of persons they come across (simply because these persons do not see eye to eye with Christians) then I leave it to other members to comment.
May I ask if you have ever lived in a culture where white Christians are a minority race? I live in a country where non Euro Christians live reasonably well with Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists of many different races and colours. If you (or a Muslim or a Hindu etc) came out publicly with what you wrote above it would not be long before you were brought to the attention of the police for antisocial incitements.
Just saying.

Yes, you are right on, I never said you should
talk to Satan, he’s the father of lies!
I just wanted to say that I WAS one of those
Christians who was zero-tolerant of the dem-
onic!! I now believe, by God’s help, that we,
the Church, THE NEW EVE, should build up
a tolerance for anything devilish!! Sorry for
the misunderstanding?

If people want to assemble they can. This is America it’s their legal right, it’s not like they are trespassing on private property . Who cares what other think? People who lead prayerful lives care more about approval from God than man. Sure have your opinions but just know that it doesn’t matter what you think to these people anyway because the fact that they are out there says just that.

If groups that are anti-religion, anti-Christian, Satanic, or just using a shocking statue to make a point are allowed to display a statue and freely assemble, then Catholics are allowed to gather and pray. I’m 100 percent in favor of visible group prayers, especially Rosaries. The end result is that a Rosary gets prayed by a large group (always a good thing), Catholics exercise their rights of free speech/ free assembly/ freedom of religion (also a good thing), the world is reminded of the existence of prayerful Catholics, someone else may be inspired by the example, and the prayers may result in the desired outcome.

Correct. My prudential opinion is its a waste of time and quite counterproductive. Wiser to offer prayer and reparation at Church rather than give such silly groups pure oxygen and brilliant advertising through kneejerk and poorly thought out over reactions.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but praying a Rosary is never a waste of time or counterproductive. Ever. And we don’t need to go hide in Church to pray.
