I’ve been participating in the 40 Days for Life campaign in our city. For those who aren’t familiar with this, we’re doing prayer 12 hours a day (6:00 A.M. - 6: 00 P.M.) at the abortion mill in our city.
About 30 churches are participating, including quite a few Protestant churches (including one of the biggest in the city, an Assemblies of God church that attracts around 5000 people on Sunday morning).
When I go pray at the abortion mill (we sign up for one hour of prayer), there is almost always at least one Protestant.
So how does everyone else feel about Catholics and Protestants working together against abortion? Does it bother you?
I’ve heard some people on this board say that Protestants are heretics, or more softly, that Protestant churches teach heresy. I can’t see how people who believe this are willing to “mix” with heretics. It seems hypocritical. Or does the graveness of the sin of abortion overrule the seriousness of joining hands with “heretics?”
As an ex-evangelical Protestant, I’m thrilled to work with my Protestant brothers and sisters to try to defeat Satan’s abortion mill in our city. And I think that the Lord hears their prayers as much as He hears our prayers.
I would also be thrilled to work with almost ANY group opposed to abortion. At the March for Life, we see all kinds of groups for life, including Lesbians for Life, Democrats for Life, etc.
Do cradle Catholics feel the same way I do?
How about traditional Catholics? (BTW, there are several traditional Catholics groups who are involved with providing the prayer warriors for the 40 Days campaign, so apparently they don’t have a problem “mixing” with Protestants, at least in our city.)
