I asked a muslim man about his understanding of Jesus. He said that they believe Jesus was a very highly regarded messanger of God, but he became very angry at the idea that He is the son of God. He said that most muslims believe that our God and theirs are one and the same. He also said they believe in the divine conception of Mary, that she was a virgin and the Holy Spirit visited her. I asked why they dont eat pork. He said that when Noah filled his ark with every living creature, the pigs were simply included to clean up the faecal mess of the other animals. Thats why they dont eat pork.
Well thats my 2 cents worth if its worth anything.
Thanks be to you Lord Jesus Christ.

This is where we need to start telling muslims that they can believe what they want. We can’t force them to believe the way we do - BUT!! They need to stop their incessant bashing of us and our beliefs. Their Isa is NOT Jesus. We don’t know where mohammed got that guy from, and we don’t know why they think they are an extension of Judaism, or Christianity.

But that is fine.

If they want to understand our religion, then they will have to get their noses out of the koran and read the Bible. We do them that courtesy when we try to understand islam. And yes, they don’t like it when we find out what islam and mohammed are all about - but that is what it is. If their texts say he was not a nice guy, then that is what it is. And if the history, and the actions of their muslim brothers and sisters bear out the teachings of mohammed - then so be it. And since deception and warring is a part of islam then they shouldn’t be surprised when we don’t believe them especially when they tell us how ‘peaceful’ islam is. It is hogwash.

Planten

The Vatican has organized inter-religious dialogue with Muslims.

I doubt if Catholics and Muslims attending it are out to insult the other.

Participating in such inter-religious dialogue definitely requires great spiritual knowledge and maturity.

We must hope that the mutual understanding and respect between the two religions grow.

What the Catholic Church seeks is religious freedom for Christians living in Muslims countries.

All Muslims enjoy religious freedom in Christian countries.

Everything begins with mutual respect, the right of every human being to seek their own way to God, no matter what they call Him.
** S J T, you are right again. The problem of Catholics preaching in Muslim countries is quite difficult. It should be allowed. There should be no bar. I shall write on that subject later. Those who forbid the preaching are wrong. There should be no bar on the peaceful preaching of any religion. But there should be no abuse of other’s faith. That is is the obstacle (probably).

But there is more. I know that the Muslim Clerics do think that in any Muslim country, the preaching of any other faith is not allowed. That is absolutely wrong. It is all due to the misunderstanding of the word “kaafir”. More later**…

I have to disagree with you here we do know where Mohammed came up with his conception of Jesus check out the link to the video series I posted earlier on this thread watch the first three videos because they talk about Mohammed’s life and how he reached his conception of Jesus.

Thanks I will check them out.

Aydan, those videos are great. I have watched the first three and will watch the rest tomorrow.

It doesn’t really go into where mohammed got his idea of Isa though. Although I loved how the brothers told us of how they were converted. One of them gave this testimony, after he explained about the scales and muslims always worrying about whether they will be tipped either towards heaven or hell.

A question: ‘how did they think about Jesus differently?’ ( paraphrase the response as I copied it as he spoke)
In the koran it recognizes Isa as a prophet, but then they know that Jesus was sentenced by the Romans for sedition and the Jews as a blasphemer (claiming to be God). Well there is a problem with this because the koran cannot have it both ways. Either Jesus who claimed to be God, and then He is recognized as a prophet. Because at the very most - Jesus would then be a fraud, a liar. So, islam is not consistent (once again). So, if Jesus claims to be God one cannot just respect Him - you have to either revere Him as God, or reject Him as a fraud and he could not be a prophet according to the koran/mohammed.
And in Christianity, Jesus loves us unconditionally - there are no scales, nothing of that nonsense.

actually I believe they go into more detail later on you really have to watch the entire series to have a good understanding of it.Near the end of the show they clearly conclude that Mohammed is not a good example to follow and then they mention all of the reasons that you paraphrased but it clearly answers the central question of the thread and it is abundantly clear that Catholics or other Christians should not and do not regard Mohammed as a prophet.

I had a big day viewing videos and I would like to end today with this video prayer for muslims to say:

from Dr. Egun Caner:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. Born a sinner. By lifestyle, by deed and by thought a sinner.
I know that if I had to live by the scales that there would be no chance for me to make it to paradise.
That daily, hourly and even minute by minute, my life is far more outweighed by bad than good.
Father, I also know that not one sin, not one, is allowed in.
So it is not a matter of me being good enough, or smart enough, or nice enough or kind enough but by the
shed blood of Jesus Christ, that Jesus was in indeed in fact Crucified. He died, was buried, Resurrected and
Ascended, Jesus shed His blood so that I never would have to.
Father, I accept you in my heart. I repent of sin and turn my life over to You. Jesus Christ you are more than
just a prophet. You are Prophet, Priest, and King.
Thank You for saving me, in the name of Jesus we pray.

This discussion can be broken down very simply:

Jesus was a Lover.

Mohamad was a Killer.

What more does anybody here really need to know?

**Daniel… I have poste dthe following on another thread. Please read and get better about Muhammad. See below:

My simple reply, " Muhammad never used any sword to convert people to Islam." He told his friends, never to do any such thing. Muhammad never killed any one. His very dear friends were killed by the enemies without any justification.

Tell me which sword had converted Ali or Abubakr or Umar or Uthman? The prophet lived a simple life before getting power. He lived the simplest life even after becoming most powerful. He did not make any palace or a big house for himself. He never used to sleep with any money in his house.

There never used to be lit any fire in his house for many months because there was nothing to cook or eat. When Muhammad passed away peacefully (year 632 A.D.), he did not leave any property to be divided amongst his relatives. There was nothing to distribute.

** Which evil man? Saul or paul of Tarsus? If You did not have any sensible reply to my points then you could have kept quiet. I will say again that Muhammad did not kill any one and he did not spread his religion by sword.

But I know that Saul of Tarsus killed many innocent followers of Jesus. Saul was a great killer, proved by the bibleNT. No doubt at all. The father of present day christianity (Saul) was a great killer. Jesus and Muhammad were not killers.**

**Yes, mo did. The man was evil. Take the challenge in the bottom of my email or even just read his comments! I have nothing good to say about mo and never will. The man was a psychopath. How can you not at least admit he is a paedophile? Any 54 year old that can get sexually aroused by crawling babies and 6 year olds is a paedophile no matter when they were alive. It is vile. Look at a 6 year old - she would not even have had adult teeth! Seriously, what is the matter with you that you can possibly think that is ok!

Please read this book amazon.com/Understanding-Muhammad-Ali-Sina/dp/0980994802/**

“Why are some Muslims intolerant, violent and supremacist? Why do they bully? What spurs them to riot and murder over the silliest things? To understand Muslims, one must understand their prophet. This psychobiography seeks to unveil the mystery of the prophet of Islam. Historians tell us Muhammad used to withdraw to a cave, spending days wrapped in his thoughts. He heard bells ringing and had ghostly visions. He thought he was demon possessed, until his wife reassured him he had become a prophet. Convinced of his status, he was intolerant of those who rejected him, assassinated those who criticized him, raided, looted, and massacred entire populations. He reduced thousands to slavery, raped, and allowed his men to rape female captives. All of this, he did with a clear conscience and a sense of entitlement. He was magnanimous toward those who admired him, but vengeful toward those who did not. He believed he was the most perfect human creation and the universe’s raison d’être. Muhammad was no ordinary man. This book ventures beyond the stories. Focusing on the “why” rather than the “what,” it unravels the mystique of one of the most enigmatic and influential men in history. Islam is Muhammadanism. Muslims worship and emulate Muhammad. Only by understanding him can one know what makes them tick. Understanding Muhammad begins with a brief history of his life. Muhammad had a loveless childhood. He then passed to the care of relatives who took pity on him and spoiled him. As the result he developed narcissistic personality disorder, a trait that made him a megalomaniac bereft of conscience. Muhammad believed in his own cause. Even when he lied, he felt entitled and justified to do so. Thanks to another mental illness, namely temporal lobe epilepsy, the prophet of Islam had vivid hallucinations he interpreted as mystical and divine intimations. He also suffered from obsessive compulsive disorder, causing his fixations on numbers, rituals and stringent rules. In the addition, he suffered from acromegaly, a disease caused by excessive production of a growth hormone resulting in large bones and odd facial features. The combination of his psychological disorders and his unusual physiognomy made him a phenomenon that set him apart from ordinary people. His uneducated followers interpreted his differences as signs of his prophethood. Like devotees of all cults, they rose to champion his cause with dedication. By defying death and butchering others they made Islam the world’s second largest religion, now the biggest threat to world peace. The author argues that Islam is incompatible with democracy and human rights, and the only way to avert the clash between barbarity and civilization, and a world disaster, is to expose its fallacy and demystify it. “Muslims must be weaned from Islam for humanity to live in peace,” says Ali Sina.”

My Response:

Uh huh.

I will say again that Muhammad did not kill any one and he did not spread his religion by sword.
That’s right, and he did it by preaching on street corners, knocking on doors, and handing out brochures … all the way from Medina to the gates of Vienna.

Quoting Jacque:

“He (a muslim) said that most muslims believe that our God and theirs are one and the same.”

Does anyone here really believe that to be true? If it is true, then G-d is one heck of a confused and messed up entity.

Obvioulsy, whatever Muslims are worshipping has nothing to do with the Judeo-Christian G-d. I will go so far as to say that suggesting that what the Muslims are worshiping is the same G-d as the G-d of the Jews and the Christians is a perversion of those two true monothestic faiths.

Daniel49
They claimed to believe the same God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Claiming that ishmael and hagar as the legitimate son and wife of Abraham makes the Judeo Christian Faith rooted from what the muslims claim as the “Bastard” seed of Abraham.

Well I don’t know about you people only “The Blind” will believe such blasphemous claims. Claims made by a illiterate, narcistic mad man.

I am with ya Charlotte - I read planten’s response and the more I think about it I think that this is true - muslims don’t read their own texts. They go to their local imam/cleric and get the answers they need and then just parrot it back to us.

I don’t suppose they have ever wondered how could so many people come to the same conclusion about mohammed! That he was a murdering, lying, thieving, enslaving, etc guy! It just never occurs to them and then the excuses… geez, they get old.

They have never figured out that maybe, just maybe, there was a reason why mohammed was afraid to go to sleep and worried that he wouldn’t get to heaven and that he would command people to say PBUH, and adore him like a god - because he actually thought that would help to get his pathetic behind into heaven.

** charlo, please use proper name for the person otherwise we will tell you some secret love stories of your Yesu. What you are doing is improper. **
Oh my gawd! This is one beats all the rest of your threats and excuses.

Now, now now - you will be going against your own koran if you start bashing Isa. Isa isn’t Jesus anyway - so whatever you say about that fictional character - it doesn’t matter. That character doesn’t exist. But, mohammed did and according to your own texts - he was not a very nice guy.

How about the woman he had killed - a young woman who was still suckling her baby (the first fatwa - a call for an assasination), or the old man over 100 years old? Yeah, the big bad mohammed couldn’t handle an old man! Yeah - tell me mohammed wasn’t a killer. Over 800 men beheaded and then they enslaved the rest of the city and stole their loot. That was his first killing spree in Quraysh. Or the man he had tortured so he would tell him where he rest of his belongings were so he could go and steal them. Then if his followers needed to lie to sneak in and kill and steal - he said ok, so lie to them if you need to lie.

It is your religion that you are bashing when you start this stuff since this fictional character only exists in your koran.
