Well…as someone coming from a protestant background-my mom’s Baptist, as was her mom and her mom…I can assure you that this is a problem in Protestant churches as well. Teenagers don’t want to get out of bed on a Sunday morning and spend an hour sitting in an uncomfortable pew. It doesn’t matter what denomination that they are in.
And especially if that Protestant church is like the one we were going to. The service was supposed to take an hour and 10 minutes. It typically took an hour and 20, and if the pastor was really “on fire” that morning, it took an hour and a half.

When I went back to Mass recently for the first time in almost 18 years, when it was finished, I was thinking, “Wow. Is it over already?!”

one thing struck me…if showing you the fruit is about evangelization, and the mormons are good at it, what does that tell you?

Mormonism is a cult, same with JW, and they evangelize like there is no tomorrow…means nothing at all.

I must say though, it is rather frustrating to see the lack of Evangelization in Catholics, myself included (although that is changing the more I learn and am capable of dealing with objection in a civilized way 😉
I am LDS. We tell people about the Saviour because there is a tomorrow and a forever, because of Him.

This sounds like a put down. If it isn’t, please disreguard the following and except my apology. Its easy to throw out a one liner which doesnt’ mean or say a thing. I don’t have a problem with some one disagreeing with me. I thought that is why are here? I would much more like to here your ideas and thoughts.
By the way it’s Uncle M

(I don’t know how to work the icons so my last statement was in jest)

the first thing is mormon Doesn’t believe in the true God of the bible ok.

Hi Stonewall, Just for a frame of reference. Did someone teach this to you, or did you study this out by yourself.

Paul G - I think you and Jackman USC were posting at the same time. I thought he was addressing me - Aunt Martha (Auntie M), and agreeing with what I said. I don’t think he was referring to you. I could be wrong…

Thanks, Im sure your right. Sometimes it is confusing to keep track of the lines of thought. Thats why my answer was tongue in cheek. I dont tend to take things too personaly. I am new to this site, and havent figured out how to use the icons to convey my attempts at humour yet.

How can it be that Catholics have all the grace of 7 sacraments, including Christ Himself in the Eucharist, but the fruit of evangelism is just not there in the vast majority of the local parishes? Why is it that at face value the local Protestant church and even the Mormons are doing a much better job of fulfilling Christ’s last instructions in Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…”
Millions of new Catholics say you are mistaken.

God Bless

Both my sons expressed pleasure at the fact that the priest’s sermon(is it called a homily?) was not long. There have been times during prots service when I had to poke my children to keep them awake.

Catholic world population … 1.1 billion.

Mormon world population … ???

66 people came into the Catholic Church in our Deanery alone through the RCIA program. I dont remember where I read it, maybe on Catholic Online website, Im not sure, but it was in the thousands who were coming into the Church this easter. Who says our church is not evangelizing!! I personally like the quiet reverence of the mass. I like it so much what another poster said, we are not there to be entertained. I think what makes it so special is that people seek catholicism. What was that saying by The Pope? You have looked for me and I have found you!. As far as the sermons or homilies, I dont have to have someone scream at me and act like a lunatic to convince me of something.
