interesting. i dont think Jesus would agree that they are dead. for He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. as for praying to them. i ask them to pray for me. they are closer to him, in that they are actually in his presence. its no different than if i would ask you to pray for me. how do i know you are actually on the other end somewhere behind a computer? i dont see you, i dont hear you. all i see are words typed on a screen, just like you. but i can ask you to pray for me all the same. even though we have never met, and neither of us are really sure if we even are on the our respective computers, and just some computer program responding…i just dont think this came out correctly. if it doesnt make any sense to you. i understand. :o peace 🙂
It makes perfect sense to me! 🙂

Pax vobiscum!

myself as well. we have two instances in scripture that i know of, where we see people who have passed on, are interested in what is happening here. actually 3 if we take Jesus parable of the rich man and lazarus into acount. the one being in hebrews which talks about us having a great cloud of witnesses. the other is in revelation where the martyrs are asking how long till God avenges their blood. so there is precidence for people knowing at least in part, what is happening here after they depart. not to mention my conversion, where i had someone appear in a dream, and tell me which way i should walk, and i was shown a glimpse of paradise where he now is. peace 🙂

I have been to mass, and I can tell you you don’t have to tell the saints to tell Jesus, or to pray with you. Prayer is a personal relationship with Jesus not a relationship with or through someone. You should share experiences with the Spirit though.
Oh my… a Methodist telling us not to pray to saints? Didn’t your John Wesley come from the Church of England… where praying to saints is just as common as it comes in the Catholic Church? Don’t you use a rosary? Your John Wesley did use one, in fact it is on display at a museum…

lol

Maybe you were just saying that we don’t have to, in any case that’s okay. God bless you John.

I am Methodist, and you were in the WRONG church. The church I go to is vibrant in the community(even the Baptist’s and Penecostal’s SNEAK over sometimes. We have many Former Catholic about 15 that I know of(of course the Catholic church in the area has aa priest that doesent like kid’s.) I couldn’t believe that. We have communion 1st Sunday of every month. And the pastor personally serves us, as we dip our bread in grape juice(Methodism holds strong rules against alcohol.) and we have a good church. We don’t believe in confessing to a man, we confess to God himself.
Jesus drank wine all the time. he drank it at passover and a number of other annual celebrations too. They even called him a drunkard, remember!?

Zundrah, I may have missed it, but would you please tell me what you found lacking in or wrong with your old church?

BTW, I love your cats! I have a fold, too. They are really great! 🙂
Oh my… such an excellent question, such a long answer! 😃

Don’t forget that He turned water into wine also.

Allright I have gotten so many replies, I cannot respond to each one induvidually, but to say John Wesley believes in all the unbiblical stuff is absolute HOGWASH! John Wesley was a smart man who believed in the Bible, and saw it right to break off of the Anglican Church! THATS WHAT HAPPENED!

you are correct in saying John Wesly was a smart man. a very intelligent man at that. and many Catholics have nothing but good to say about certain issues he expounds upon. i believe his studies in grace and how it is given would be one of these. John wesley, and Jacobus arminius both, did a great service to put a damper on the errors of calvinism. for that we are thankful. Peace to you and yours. 🙂
