Catholics turned Other religions..What can you say about them?

I don’t have any problem with Catholics who become Protestant or Orthodox. Nor do I have any problem with Protestants who become Catholic or Orthodox. So long as they’re doing it to be following Christ in the best way their intellect, their conscience and the Holy Spirit lead them, they’re doing right.

If they become Buddhist, Muslim or Hindu, I’d have a problem with it.

Well… for a Christian (whether Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox) to become one of things, especially the last, is a step down (but Democrat just as much – the Libertarian Party is the One True Party). 😉

However, I will concede there is significant wisdom in Buddhism and Taoism that I incorporate into my Christian faith. Indeed, I give Zen and Taoism a lot of the credit for my becoming a Christian – they served as a (for me) necessary stepping stone from agnosticism and hyper-rationalism. :tiphat:

There was a point in my life that studying Buddhism (informally) was a great inspiration to me. I was not being fed in my Christian Faith and I guess I could say I tended to be agnostic for a time.

I never adopted it as a belief system, but it inspired me, much like a philosophy of any sort might enrich someone’s thinking. Even describing some basic Buddhist thoughts to a friend was cathartic. Ultimately it put me on a trajectory straight back into Christianity.

actually i have nothing against any religious groups, but all iam asking, is for them to respect us catholics. my husband was not a catholic before we got married. and before getting married we went to his church and asked them the blessing of getting married inside the catholic church. but instead of allowing us, i received so many bad words from them. i kept on crying but they kept on telling me how stupid iam being a catholic. that was the most unforgetable moment i cant forget.

Funny you should say that, Michael. My experience was much the same. I fell in love with Buddhism as a teenager. I went to Thailand, China, etc. and it inspired me a GREAT deal. I considered myself a Buddhist as a teenager. It ultimately guided me back to Christianity as well but really got me thinking, opened up my eyes to philosophy and the meaning of life, etc. Now if I could only find my final Christian destination I’d be in business! :p:cool: Thanks for your post.

Yeah, that was so terrible! but too bad for them because love can move a mountain:) , my husband was converted to Catholic a few months before we got married:) God is good all the time…

Thanks 🙂 well actually that was almost 4 years ago. Yes, iam admitting that until up to date, there was this feeling of hatred everytime i saw a church of them. but im trying to ignore this feeling cause i know this is not right, and also because that i can’t move on until this feelings is over. i know time will come and God knows how bad i felt at that very moment, and everytime that scenario came back on my mind, wheeeww,… too bad 😦

but i always believed that God is good all the time, God Bless us:)
