I don’t like rap music or anything that’s full of profanity or sexually explicit content, but I do think it’s a little rough to categorize all pop music as bad. I like the Big Mac analogy, though I would put it like this: Big Macs taste good and they’re fine to enjoy as a treat, but you can’t be healthy if you only eat Big Macs. I think pop music is like that…it’s fine to have some fun with, but you can’t consider it as “nutritious” as music that’s better composed, written and sung. In my personal opinion, Britney Spears can’t be compared to the Beatles in terms of worth. Of course, others will disagree and I would say as long as it’s not anti-Faith and not explicit or overly profane then it’s each to his or her own.
Personally, I’ve been listening to alot of Weird Al lately. He’s a very clean and very fun artist, and I know his music always puts me in a good mood when I’m down. I’m getting more and more into Christian rock and I can’t wait for our Family Christian Store to have it’s CD sale at the beginning of August so I can pick up some new stuff!
