Pat the Cat;2905774:
Last time I went to a Protestant Church, they read less from the bible at their Sunday service that we Catholics do at a daily Mass. And they say we don’t read the Bible enough?
Amen. I have been to Protestant services that hardly cracked the Bible at all… and when/if the pastor did, it was to take Scripture out of context and put his interpretation on it… Often i had not even considered that particular interpretation… Shows how something as seemingly straightforward as (most) scripture is can be interpreted different ways…
I read a account (in one of Patrick Madrid’s Surpised by Truth
books, I think) of a couple who became Catholic after being Protestant missionaries to a country where many people were illiterate. They realized that salvation is not just for the literate, therefore it is even more important that the Bible be heard than that it be read.
I wish more people were as open-minded about religiion as they were.
