Catholics who claim to be "IN Christ"

Are we in Christ or Christ in Us?
I hope that He is still in me for I’ve just received the Holy Eucharist.

It’s not as if we both receive and contain the fullness of Christ when we receive the Eucharist, 'twould be impossible for us. Rather we are absorbed into and become part of Himself, His Body, I would say that we are in Christ moreso than He in us.

Thanks for explaining, Lily. It does make sense that we are part of His Body. I am not so clear about the fullness of Christ in the Eucharist, but what would I answer if someone ask me what the Eucharist is? Couldn’t I say It is Jesus? or I say It is His Body and Blood? If It is His Body and Blood, where is His Spirit? … am I confusing myself? 🙂

Certainly Jesus offers Himself unstintingly - and the Eucharist surely is the fullness of His Body Blood Soul and Divinity. Just that we poor frail humans are limited as to how much we get out of it when we do receive Him. Which is one reason why we need to renew His life in us by receiving Communion as often as we can.

That is so true, and after reading the book “True Devotion to Mary”, it helps me to understand what you just wrote. Thanks, Lily.
 
Thanks for the verses, Hisalone. You could’ve had them all in one post though.

Could you post some verses where one can see if another is in Christ. To me, it is more important for one to see other in Christ or vice versa than he is seeing himself in Christ. I don’t mean the latter is not important though.

for those born of the spirit both are true. We are in fact “in christ” and he is in us.

Ephesians 2:6
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Ephesians 2:7
in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:11
One in Christ ] Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (that done in the body by the hands of men)—

Ephesians 2:13
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

As you can see positionally, we are in the body of Christ

Romans 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

And, the Holy Spirit is the spirit of Christ, which indwells us.
 
Thanks Daniel Marsh for taking the time and posted the verses. I like this verse as a reminder - the hardest thing to do without His graces.

14:20
At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

1Pe 3:15 - Show Context
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

If you sanctify the Lord God within you, you can recognize Him where He is in others.

Thanks! and do it with with meekness and fear. But to go deeper on meekness alone, one can write a whole book on it. Recently, I have a new friend who is so humble in everything he does. At some point, I just didn’t get it, but slowly day by day, I’ve started to understand more about this friend of mine.

It is a blessing to have a good spiritual friend to help us.
