Catholics: Would You Join A Protestant Church?

To answer the OP’s questions briefly - no, because I don’t like being confused.

This is a Catholic Forum and the question was asked to Catholics. I will admit I am extremely Catholic and if as a Methodist you choose to read our opinions and then get offended it is your fault.

Nevertheless I take umbrage at your telling me to think more before answering. I have been thinking for over fifty years. When I was thirteen I saw a priest and told him my desire to become a Catholic and he told me to wait as my Baptist parents were opposed.
I tried again at age 17 and was told the same. I would secretly attend a 6am mass and then was forced to attend a Baptist meeting and listen to their lies about the Catholic Church. I have no happy memories of twenty years of Baptist “Fellowship”.

At 21 I became a Catholic and achieved my goal of union with Christ’s Church. That was in the 1950’s and I think about it everyday.

Why don’t you think a bit before telling others to think ?

In Mathew 16:18 Jesus says, And on this Rock I will build my Church. But we have so many fregments of Churches, ie Catholic Church, Protestant Church, Methodist Church, Believers Church, Born Again Church, JW Church and what not. Is this want Jesus really said?

I was raised Catholic, went to CC all my life. Then I moved out of the house and got married. My husband was not Catholic and I did not get married in the Catholic Church.

I did attend Protestant Churchs for many many many years. I did Bible Studies with them ect. In most peoples eyes, I guess they thought I was Protestant. “Church of Christ” and then when we moved across state and then it was a Baptist Church for years. We attended twice on Sunday, on Wed night. Monday Bible Studies, and once a month the womens Bible Study was held at our house with a decon teaching it.

I even studied with JW’s for seven years of home study. I attended their “Kingdom Hall” only twice.

Did I ever join any Protestant Church. Nope. As time went on and the more I studied over the Many years, I kept finding out more things that couldn’t be answered by anyone except the Catholic Church.

Most “Bible Believing” Churchs, do believe in the Bible and they do Preach it…just not All of it.

In todays world, many Protestant churchs "leave it up to the “couple or woman” on what to do with a Pregnancy. To keep it or Abort. (not all Protestant Churchs). Many Protestant Churchs, allow Woman and Gay Men to be Pastors. (again not all Protestant Churchs).

As time went on and I was searching for the “True Church” (the one that Jesus started) it lead me back to doing the “History” of the Bible, from there it went to What was the first Chruch that Jesus started.

If a person were to really “dig and study” the “History” of their Own church, you might just be surprised at how Many changes to your own church has taken place. You’d also find out just how your church got started in the first place. Although it’s true not everyone wants to go to that extent…some people feel that they don’t have to, yet my question to anyone and everyone is this…Why not? If you want to really find out the truth, you need to search and find out… After all, isn’t that why we go to church in the first place? So it’s not a “sin” to question or search your own Church History out.

I won’t try to talk any one who is Protestant into being a Catholic. (besides that I highly doubt anyone could talk anyone into being something else.)

But if you do nothing else for yourself, do at least find out how the Bible came into being, find out what Bible was Printed first, then find out, (as you go along) that the Protestant Bible indeed did have all the same books as the Catholic Bible does for Years and Years.

Then sit back and ask yourself tons of questions, why and who would want to change Gods word?

When you get that far, you’ll start to ask yourself tons more questions…

So would I join a Protestant Church? Nope. Do I love my Protestant Brother’s and Sister’s. Yes I do.

Our walk with God is so important, how can anyone not want to search for the complete Truth? If you think your church has the “complete truth” then that’s great, then just for the fun of it, really search out the Catholic Beliefs, the History, and if nothing else you’ll understand why we believe what we do.

By the way for a couple of years, I am now back to Catholic Church and won’t leave again.

God bless you too. It was nice reading your analysis. By the way, I am a member of a Born again Christians group as in the place where I work, we dont have a Catholic Church, but I am a Catholic at heart. I do appreciate this group because of whom I started reading My Holy Bible, which until some years ago, I never had and would not even give it a second glance. But I read it everyday.

…So glad you came back to the Church…but were you subsequently married in the Catholic Church?

I would speak to your Cardinal, Bishop or Priest about your Marriage. As a Catholic, if you are not Married in the Catholic Church, you are not married in the eyes of God.

Will your husband convert? Please check on all this…

Jesus can be found in many Churches, but the fullness of truth is only found in the Catholic Church.

I go to a Roman Catholic Church 9:00am and my **Methodist Church **6:30pm every sunday.

I have been going to my Methodist Church for much longer though, obviously. :cool:

Catholic doctrine is heretical.
 
I would join as a social club, but would continue to go to Mass for my spiritual fullfilment.🙂

I do not think you should speak for all 33,000 + demoninations of protestants. Just as I don’t like President Obama to speak for all Americans.

Do you really understand the teaching of the Catholic Church, or do you just attend Mass and say you understand? Because there is so much more to the Catholic Church than what you hear at Mass, and you may have a misinformed Priest that is misleading you. It does happen unfortunately.

I have a catechism… that’s how I know.

And I am not from 30,000 denominations! :rolleyes:

You are mislead that is for sure. Not only do you not understand the Catholic position of the Eucharist (since we believe it is Christ we are worshiping) you also seem unable to grasp the Methodist teaching of the Eucharist. Which is surprising coming from a “hardcore Methodist”…

BTW your little comment about wafer worship was reported. You may not agree with Catholic doctrine, but lets not resort to childish accusations based on nothing but your hatred for Catholicism.
