The head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines on Monday warned the public against buying so-called “papal visit” shirts bearing what it called “misleading” and “erroneous” messages.

CBCP president and Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas said such shirts tried to convey the Pope’s openness with the phrases “No race, no religion.”
ABS-CBN apologized for the shirts that carried the message and pulled out the items from its online shop and retail partners.

I find it incredibly… stupid… that they’d associate the Pope’s visit… the Pope… the visible head of largest single religion in the world… with the slogan “No Religion.”

Oh well, I’ve never accused these types of being intelligent, why start now 😛

I still wish someone in authority had definitively cleared up the ambiguity surrounding the “who am I to judge” incident. It could have helped a lot of souls and saved others from scandal. These t-shirts are just one example of the havoc that can be wrought by one unguarded phrase that is allowed to fester without clarification.

Several people from the Vatican -have- clarified, along with almost every Catholic publication that upholds the Truths of the Church. The problem is that, because it doesn’t fit in with “progressive” narrative, it doesn’t get reported on.

I guess I was hoping for the Holy Father himself to do so. But he seems to thrive on ambiguity.

UGH! That’s what happens when media outlets try to mindlessly interpret the Holy Father. Agian… UGh.

Even the local media embraces the liberal western media’s ideology.
