CCD books??????

We are going to purchase new CCD books for our parish CCD program. The series we have been using is not something we want to consider going forward. Do you have any CCD book series you would like to recommend?
 
Faith & Life, Alive in Christ, and Image of God are three good ones.
 
Our parish also switched to the Faith and Life series (published by Ignatius Press) this year, and I am impressed. I believe Faith and Life is grades 1-8, and Image of God is the corresponding preschool series.

Actally, they have an entire primary program called Image of God, preschool through 8.

They also have a confirmation program called Image of God, which sort of confuses things.

They have a 1-8 program in Faith and Life.

They have a couple of options in their high school program (full year and semester options) — the Didache series.
 
Our parish switched to Faith and Life a few years ago. They have updated their web support recently to make it easier to adapt the lessons to a once-a-week CCE program. The books were originally more suited to a Catholic school that has multiple days of religion class each week.

The only drawback is the reading level. If your CCE program has a high percentage of students who do not read at grade level, they may get frustrated. In that case, Image of God is a good alternative - just as solid but presented a bit more simply.
 
Faith & Life and Image of God are both great and I highly recommend them. But I am also excited to see OSV’s new series Alive in Christ.

It brings a lot of things together. Each lesson has a “Family” page that a student could tear out and bring home as a parent handout that reinforces the lesson and can also serve to catechize the parents. The Catechist Manual also keys each lesson to NCEA’s ACRE assessment, which is helpful if your parish uses that assesment. There are lots of online resources available, too, if that’s important to you.
 
While we are on this topic, does anyone know of a solid, doctrinally-sound, CCE program that has either bi-lingual texts or a bi-lingual supplement? (Spanish/English). I would love to see our program use something like Alive in Christ that has family activities but almost none of our parents read English.

We have looked at a couple but they were quite light on Catechesis and doctrinally vague.

It looks like Faith & Life has some unofficial Spanish translations of the Grades 1-5 texts of the original series (i.e. not the Revised or 3rd edition):

But yeah, unfortunately the solid catechetical series are lagging behind their less solid counterparts in terms of bi-lingual availability. Hopefully they’ll catch up soon.

(And stay away from Faith First. Blech.)
