I got this CD that has Indian music on it that I really like. However, I asked an Indian friend about the lyrics on my favorite track, and it turns out to be something about Ram. She said it could also be translated as “good lord”. I don’t want to be disloyal to Jesus, but also wonder if this isn’t a question like that of eating meat offered to idols. I don’t understand the lyrics, just like the music, and kind of wish I hadn’t asked. What do you all thnk about just enjoying the music for what it is, esp. since I don’t understand the language anyway?

You’re not worshipping Ram, and you’re not making an idol out of it, and as long as it doesn’t affect your Catholic view of God, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Enjoy the music!

I dunno-- I’ve been humming along with George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” for 35 years and I haven’t turned pagan yet! 😉
