well…there were only 25 deaths total from the flu. 250 infant deaths from homicide is tragic don’t get me wrong.

I just thought it was going to be worse than that.

What makes someone kill an infant? With plenty of families looking to adopt it must be for absolutely no reason. Not that there could ever be a decent reason - it just seems that the last reason there was for this to happen has disappeared (some people used to kill babies because they could not provide for them which I find to be a worthless excuse)… I wonder how they manage to justify this in their minds now.

Children are the greatest people on earth. The younger they are it seems to me the closer to God they are. I don’t see much of a reason to waste tax money imprisoning the killers… let God sort them out if you ask me (provided you have an air-tight case with DNA and witnesses, of course).

Murder or abuse of infants is disturbing, but its not one of the ten leading causes of infant mortality in the US. According to the CDC report, those causes are
  1. Congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities
2, Disorders related to short gestation and low birth weight, not elsewhere classified
  1. Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
  2. Newborn affected by maternal complications of pregnancy
  3. Accidents (unintentional injuries)
  4. Newborn affected by complications of placenta, cord and membranes
  5. Bacterial sepsis of newborn
  6. Respiratory distress of newborn
  7. Diseases of the circulatory system
  8. Neonatal hemorrhage
