Considerations Regarding Proposals To Give Legal Recognition To Unions…

I wasn’t actually aware that this document existed, but I just came across it and thought I’d share it as I’m sure others won’t be familiar with it.
It makes it clear that Catholics cannot support civil unions for homosexuals. Helps clear some things up.
Well, there you go, then. Insofar as civil unions are de facto tantamount to homosexual “marriages”, I repudiate anything I have ever said in their favor. This said, though, I can foresee that there could be individual situations, between either a man and a woman, two men, or two women, where the simulation of conjugal life (including intimate relations) wouldn’t even be an issue — not everybody can or does practice intimacy — but some kind of legal protection could be needed. So there is a bit more nuance to it than that, but probably not as much nuance as civil union advocates would like to see.

Yes, but I think it is an “acceptable” compromise if the only other option is gay marriage. Like putting restrictions on abortion is “acceptable” if we cannot flat out get rid of it. Working with what we’ve got…

I think that this is true. If I have somewhere erred, please correct me.

Homosexual have the same legal protections that Hetrosexual have here in the US.
