I apologize for mis-spelling the title.
I certainly favour a reunion of the great streams of Christianity. Here in Finland, the Orthodox church is recognized as “official” and has access to the taxation system with the Lutherans.
One of the basic doctrines of Eastern Christians has been the ecclesiastical authority of the monarch. This was certainly true of the Byzantine church from the time of Constantine.
The question involves how we are to fit modern democracy into that historic doctrine. I realize that the present Patriarch of Moscow does not recognize the President of Russia as a superior, but the doctrine does remain, or does it?
