If these conditions are indeed trye, your Pastor should be reported to the Bishop of your Diocese. Such things lead to the acceptance of heresy!!! and before you know it, you will have a woman pseudo-priest conducting services at your church, all with the approval of the female congregation of your parish…and the church will be no longer a Catholic Church.
I am sorry, but I am old school and believe in unquestioning obedience to the Vatican and my Bishop and cannot broach any unauthorized deviation in holy ritual, no matter what the reason.
Never forget, many loyal Catholics died over such matters during the Reformation and Counter-Reformation.
Our Priest is an elderly man and due for retirement. He is also the victim of bully by the feminists.

He is soon to be replaced but the feminists have said of his successor ‘He thinks he is the boss but he will conform to our expectations’ 'he thinks he is in charge, but we will soon put him in his place if he tries to lord it over us"

The women God bless them, 10 years ago, nearly forced a priest into resigning in fear of his mental health [he was a convert from Anglicanism and his father and Anglican Bishop].

I fear not for the Holy Spirit is on boured and He will guide His Church in all truthfulness

I ask for your advice. I value what you say, I have no doubt the Holy Spirit has it all in hand. All shall be well.

Jesus bless you now and always. Thank you for the courtesy of your reply. Please pray for us.

Same here.

I really wish the many signs and symbols of the liturgy, prayer, devotions, etc. were taught more than they are. I understand that there is a limited amount of time to do things, but I cannot help but believe it would do wonders for the spirituality of many Catholics to have a deeper understanding of such things.
True indeed. However, looking at the bright side, those of us with inquisitive minds have never had it better with the Internet, there is just so much good information out there as long as one doesn’t check in one’s critical thinking at the door.

Its there for the asking, no doubt about it. We are fortunate to have so many good resources available in this day and age. As you suggested, there does need to be some discernment involved, but there is plenty of great stuff.

Just a quibble, but isn’t, at Benediction, the blessing coming directly from Jesus, and not the priest? This is why the priest wears the humeral veil during the blessing, to indicate that Jesus is conferring the blessing, not the cleric.
Not quite, the priest confers the blessing acting in the Persona Christi.

Not to be argumentative, but are you sure you are not confusing Benediction with a blessing being given by the priest, such as at the end of Mass, or even on Holy Days when we are asked to bow our heads?

To my understanding, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, the priest does not have to act in the person of Christ, because Christ is already truly and substantially present at that time. The priest acts in the person of Christ when conferring the sacraments, or when giving a blessing such as at the end of Mass, etc. But in that occasion, the Eucharist has already been transformed into the body, blood, soul, and divinity of our Blessed Lord.

I guess I would question this too, in the sense that deacons can also be the celebrant of Benediction, but sacramentally I didn’t think that deacons acted “in Persona Christi.” I also learned that the symbolism of the humeral veil is that the blessing in Benediction came from Christ himself.

It is true that the deacon does not act in the person of Christ.CIC Canon 1009
§3 Those who are constituted in the order of the episcopate or the presbyterate receive the mission and capacity to act in the person of Christ the Head, whereas deacons are empowered to serve the People of God in the ministries of the liturgy, the word and charity.
Also CIC Can. 1169 has:Can. 1169
§1 Consecrations and dedications can be validly carried out by those who are invested with the episcopal character, and by priests who are permitted to do so by law or by legitimate grant.
§2 Any priest can impart blessings, except for those reserved to the Roman Pontiff or to Bishops.
§3 A deacon can impart only those blessings which are expressly permitted to him by law.

Can. 1170 While blessings are to be imparted primarily to catholics, they may be given also to catechumens and, unless there is a prohibition by the Church, even to non-catholics.

Can. 1171 Sacred objects, set aside for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated with reverence. They are not to be made over to secular or inappropriate use, even though they may belong to private persons.
De Benedictionibus shows 21 blessings that (Latin) deacons may give.

My question which started this thread, would like to add the lay person acting as celebrant, did so [so I was told] with great devotion.

My underlying concern though, is the feminist movement [which I am not opposed to per se as women do and must have an equal voice among the laity], has taken much upon themselves. Our parish once had a very charasmatic priest who got moved on and his successor, much more quiet and introverted but holy man none-the less. The female celebrant challenged bullied and started a hate campaign against him for not being charasmatic which brought him to his knees. I am proud to be counted as one of very few who stood upto this group, in his defence.

His successor, the present incumbant, an elderly man who is due to retire this summer, has been bullied into submission by said feminists [their success in getting abortion literature and annual collections banned as too provocative and offensive against women] evidences their power to bully and intimidate. I was not able to help him as they managed to drive a wedge between us by false witnessing of things I was accused, that were pure fiction but which alarmed him enough to distance himself from me. Then he was alone and picked off by said feminists.

We have a new Priest, a younger and very dynamic man. They have already said ‘they will soon put him in his place and show him who runs our parish!’ The new priest is much shrewder and is bringing in a Deacon and has the help of a punchy Redemptorist Priest and friend. I believe the Holy Spirit is on board too but respectfully ask you all for your prayers and be cautious: this is just an ordinary parish, it could so easily happen to your parish.

I wonder how many parishes in England are facing the same trials?

Sounds like you, the new priest, the Redemtorist, and the deacon are fighting the good fight! Keep it up, and I’ll keep you all in my prayers. I love it when the good guys win 👍

In my parish we are hoping to a Benediction on Sunday as it corpus christi Sunday

Prayers offered. :gopray2: We are one Body, the Catholic Church. If one part of our Body is injured, the whole Body is affected (one minuscule hurting toe affects the entire body).
