Stick with Catholic resources. If there is not an AA group at your parish, ask about starting one.

I have seen Catholics be led away from the Church in “Celebrate Recovery”.
I am Catholic and have been a Celebrate Recovery ministry leader at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sacramento, California. I have been active in CR for over 6 years and I have never seen Catholics that have been led away from the Church in Celebrate Recovery so I find that very hard to believe. Celebrate Recovery is a better choice for a Catholic considering a support group because it’s Christ-centered while AA is not. So I would say if there is not a Celebrate Recovery than start one in your church; that’s what I did. For more info contact me at: owings@yahoo.com

Have any of you heard of the Christ centered group called Celebrate Recovery? It’s a Christian recovery group for people with a wide variety of problems ranging from depression to food addiction.

I have an anxiety disorder and depression and was wondering about this organization. I’d only recently learned a little about it and am looking for some feedback. My church doesn’t sponsor this group, but a Baptist church not too far from here does. I was wondering how receptive they’d be to a Catholic joining them? Have any Catholics here joined this group or something else held in a Baptist church?

I think I’ll make a call and see if all the members are Baptist and how they’d feel about a Catholic coming to the meetings. In the meantime, opinions here are welcome.
Let me ask you, I have read through about 3/4ths of this and I catch the drift. You’ve been treated since your on meds, are you diagnosed as Bi-Polar [you state anxiety and depression]? Also as for individual treatment what have you been doing on a regular basis? And all this has been to no avail for how long? Or how would say your treatment has gone?

Let me ask one other question, when the anxiety and depression peak, what happens to you during this mood change? Do you remember always?

This facility in question, how are individuals in your specific situation actually treated? I think that in these type of facilities its very normal to feel better since you are engulfed in security. This is what they do provide support. Yet frankly I can’t see where they have a new corner on treatment.

I am a member of CR for drug use and pornography. I love being a part of it. It has helped me tremendously and I recomend it to everyone…
Amen, What was done that helped you? Where you physically sick from withdrawal and received treatment or is this therapy we are talking now?

Stay away from it !!!

Danger danger danger!!!

I was a member at my non denominational church before i returned to the catholic church it is really really bad it is like group confession very dangerous

Everyone tells all thier problems to everyone and then sadly it becomes public information at the entire church.

Our group leader killed him self and five people killed them self at our church I believe it had a lot to do with the sucicides along with once saved always saved theology.

Stay away !!!

Go to a catholic Thespist
Get involved at a group at a conservative pariah
Pray the rosary daily
Read the bible
Go to confession
Do to daily mass

Celebrate recovery is about the most evil place on earth !!!
