My son will have received his first communion in May a year ago. I was wondering if any of you did anything special as a family to mark this special day.

Congrats! My daughter is receiving hers this May, so I cannot comment from experience yet. However, we always acknowledge the anniversary of our kids’ Baptism, so I imagine we will probably do the same for First Communion. Probably the most appropriate way to celebrate would be to go to Mass and receive the Eucharist. Otherwise, maybe a special meal/dessert and/or a simple gift. Nothing too extravagant. It’s also good to recall the event in prayer.
Perhaps a special dinner? It is good that your family recognizes this and wants to celebrate it. Perhaps I could learn from that and borrow the idea of starting an anniversary tradition for my own kids.
