I would just like to know if there are writings that points out that we can celebrate the Mass not just on sunday but everyday

You can go as often as you like. Even 2 Masses, 2 Communions everyday. That does not incl. a communion service. Daily Mass has been a very old practise in the Church, for those wishing to come closer to our Lord. If you have a more specific reason for posting this question, then please elaborate.

See Acts 2:46
Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart,
Breaking of the bread refers to the mass.

It sounds like they may have gone to the Temple for a Liturgy of the Word; then come home for the eucharist. But that is just my guess.

As we all know, the Mass is the offering of Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary to God the Father. This of course is a perpetual sacrifice. Many protestants claim that this Catholic position is wrong, that Jesus died once and for all. However, how can his sacrifice be for us if he did it two thousand years ago. The only way this makes sense is if his sacrifice is perpetual. That is why we have the Mass and have it everday. It is also called for in prophecy:

Malachi 1:11-12
11 For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.

This Verse should sound familiar to all in the Eucharistic Prayer:

“So that from East to West a perfect offering may be made for the Glory of His Name”

This is another reason as to why we have Mass everyday. 👍

Yes. There was only one sacrifice. But time is a created thing. With God there is no time. So it is possible for the same sacrifice of Calvary to be present on our Altars for all eternity.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

Certainly your priest can say Mass every day of the week.
Here in my parish we have Mass each week day at 8:00 AM on Saturday also at 5:00 PM.

John,

That is what I meant by the Sacrifice of Calvary being perpetual. It transends time. That is we are able to offer this perfect Sacrifice “from the rising of the sun to its setting”. Maybe I didn’t explain it too well. I think we are on the same page. 😃

Have a Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas 👍
