"Celtic" Mass setting

What do you think of the “Celtic Mass” setting? This is what they use at my parish exclusively, and personally I find it irreverent and annoying. Maybe it is due to the guitars and piano and the music itself is good. But so far, I just don’t like it that much. We use the hymnal “Breaking Bread”.

Yeah, I think it’s alright. It’s sort of got that whole Renaissance thing going in the harmony which is common to a lot of Christopher Walker’s music. He also doesn’t mess with the text of the ordinaries, which is a big plus!

We sing the Alleluia from the Celtic Mass every once in a while at church.

I wouldn’t do it exclusively…but I for one LOVE celtic/irish music :irish1:…Of course I don’t know how our church does it.

We use several different Mass settings, Celtic, Heritage, Glory, Angels, etc… We only use the organ, too many instruments make it sound a bit over done. We alternate from one weekend to another.
