It’s not because of our indifference. They made a strong, clear choice to intentionally support killing another human being. They did this despite strong, clear teachings from the faith they claim to be part of. And they continue to do this despite strong vocal opposition, warnings and advise.

I understand what you are saying, I really do. There are lots of people in my life that I try to be patient with and try to help instead of just saying “adios.”

Members of this organization are not such people. Personal experience enlightened me to the fact that many of them are not even remotely Catholic and that means not even baptized Catholic. It is a fraudulent group of people who are deliberately attempting to trick honest Catholics into supporting a bloody practice.
I know… but many Catholics I know do NOT know and/or practice the Church’s positions, and it is because they have not been properly informed. We never ONCE talked about abortion or sexual sins at our Confirmation-prep… and in the kind of community I lived in, their parents would not teach them HOW or WHY it is amoral and conflicts with our faith… that’s what I mean…

That’s too bad, and it’s also a fine example of who CFC is preying upon.

If you meant to say the people being deceived by CFC need education and compassion then I fully agree with you.

I think it’s more of a cultural problem, too. For all the talk we have about sex Americans aren’t that advanced. I hear the craziest things…such as one acquaintance claimed she got pregnant because that one time she didn’t go to the bathroom afterwards, or a coworker who believes she can feel when she ovulates, even though she is on Yasmin.

The biological and religious ignorance of our citizens is staggering sad.

**Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship issued by USCCB **, November 14, 2007, A Call to Political Responsibility from the Catholic Bishops of the United States, PART II, APPLYING CATHOLIC TEACHING TO MAJOR ISSUES: A SUMMARY OF POLICY POSITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS, Human Life:
64. Our 1998 statement Living the Gospel of Life declares, “Abortion and euthanasia have become preeminent threats to human life and dignity because they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental good and the condition for all others” (no. 5). Abortion, the deliberate killing of a human being before birth, is never morally acceptable and must always be opposed.

Again I repeat my message #30:
Hi Filius 🙂 The problem with the CFFC (Catholics for a Free Choice) is that the National Conference of Catholic Bishops(NCCB) made a statement that you should read in it’s entirety. Here’s a snippet: ". . . As the Catholic Bishops of the United States have stated for many years, the use of the name Catholic as a platform for promoting the taking of innocent human life and ridiculing the Church is offensive not only to Catholics, but to all who expect honesty and forthrightness in public discourse. We state once again with the strongest emphasis: `Because of its opposition to the human rights of some of the most defenseless members of the human race, and because its purposes and activities deliberately contradict essential teachings of the Catholic faith,…Catholics for a Free Choice merits no recognition or support as a Catholic organization" (Administrative Committee, National Conference of Catholic Bishops, 1993)."

I should mention that I’ve heard people that were FreeMasons and Buddists, etc. claim to be Catholic. I’ve noticed they use the name as a platform for attacking the Church. I think they purposedly use the word Catholic to mean the universal church of Christ so that they can claim to be Christians. This is a mistake. The Vatican (Holy See) is the Universal Church of Jesus Christ.

I’m against abortion. I’ve seen quite a few women become messed up for years, ending up with with estranged relationships wheither it be with a husband or boyfriend. I have talked women out of aborting their unborn child. They were ever so grateful that they had listened to me in the end. 🙂 Whatever the case, I can’t fathom a woman killing her own child. It cuts across the grain of logic and reason then again, pregnant women have been killed by a boyfriend or husband. 😦

Those who have promoted abortion have always played a word game of being pro choice labeling those who try to protect the most vulnerable as being anti choice. Choice of course denied to the human they kill. So you are not aware of any pro abortion group? That is rather disingenuous of you. It is only a word game. Planned Parenthood is a pro abortion group so is CFC. Choice is only an euphemism for abortion.
The word game has been played on both sides. Pro-life is but the choice of one side. Pro-choice has become the choice of the other. Words always matter, pro-life proponents were quite smart to have realized this and changed to what sounds innocuous and obvious. I do not agree that PP advocates abortion. It advocates choice in reproduction and methodologies for addressing that, only one alternative is abortion.

SpiritMeadow, it sure seems to me that Planned Parenthood (PP) does ‘advocate abortion’. Here read what I located on their website:

*Abortion Options

Early in pregnancy, you have two options for ending a pregnancy — medication abortion or abortion by vacuum aspiration. (The information about procedures is presented alphabetically.) Medication abortion is the use of medicine to end a pregnancy. Vacuum aspiration is the use of gentle suction to end pregnancy.

Pregnancy is usually dated from the first day of the last menstrual cycle. You may choose medication abortion if you are early enough in pregnancy — this may be defined as up to 49, 56, or 63 days, depending on how the medicine is taken. After 63 days, vacuum aspiration is your only abortion option during the first trimester, which is calculated as the first 14 weeks after the first day of a woman’s last menstrual period.

After the first trimester, dilation and evacuation (D&E) is the most common abortion procedure. In a D&E, the cervix is slowly stretched open. The procedure is completed by emptying the uterus using a combination of suction and medical instruments. Another option, induction — in which premature labor is induced with various medicines — is not widely available.*

Planned Parenthood disagrees with your assessment of them. Their very own fiscal report shows their largest earnings and profits to be in the abortion sector, and polls show that the largest donors support Planned Parenthood because they offer abortion services.

These statements are easily verified by going to Planned Parenthood’s very own website and doing some research. You can look at them as an entire organization or chapter by chapter.

Also, if you choosing abortion as only one alternative, that gives a false representation of Planned Parenthood, as the company itself acknowledges a huge support for COCs, (combination oral contraceptives). COCs may cause early term abortions. Thus, when you consider the amount of COCs they distribute along with the amount of abortion services they provide, their company is seen for what it is: an abortion provider for profit.

please do not be offended however some of your posts seem atypical of long catholic doctrine, it is hard to reconcile these posts. Pro-Life is pro-life always, the reason pro-choice is a misrepresentation is the term is used to imply one has the right to kill or not kill a growing human. Their “choice” is to act moral or immoral, no neutral condition exists.

You are correct in regard to PP abortion is not available in most PP facilities. PP often meets extreme action from Catholics because their teaching/assistance is so opposite catholic teaching.
Hope that helps

I see why you have arrived at your conclusion. It is of course rather obvious that operating abortion facilities costs much more and thus generates more income than dispensing literature on other forms of contraception. Do you include all contraception devices in this conclusion that they are an abortion organizattion?

advocate: to speak or write in favor of; support or urge by argument; recommend publicly

Planned Parenthood definitely advocates for abortion. They speak and write in favor of it, they support or urge by agrument, and they recommend publically. They advocate.

During its 2005-2006 fiscal year, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America reported performing 264,943 abortions and it reported not one single adoption referral. Not one.

Their 264K abortions account for fully 1/5 of abortions in this country-- as they say in sales, they have the largest market share.

Meanwhile, 0 adoption referrals pretty much says it all.

I cannot believe you would attempt to say that Planned Parenthood is not an abortion business with a straight face. They don’t sell “choices,” they sell abortions.

If I recall correctly, only COCs contain the synthetic hormone that changes the endometrial lining, causing early-term abortions. There are around 40 different ABCs and I think 13 COCs.

Unfortunately, the most popular forms of ABC are COCs due to their higher efficacy (any humans that are actually conceived just get aborted). Business is all about supply and demand.

At least as late as 2006 there is information in chapter fiscal reports indicating the amount of sales from COCs. This information may help you decide how much contraceptive sales to include under the abortion category.

Don’t forget Depo, Norplant, and the IUD-- which are also abortifacient.

…contraception is still wrong. It’s so sad that our goverment actually supports them with our tax money… that’s capitalism for you.
