Is Chavez a catholic?

It’s scary to see all this hostility around the world towards the Church!

Wow, then Chavez has never read John Paul II’s views on communism. But to him, what would Pope John Paul II know, he only lived under communism.

I say praise God!!! Maybe consciences are being stirred and Satan and his demons sure do look like 2 year olds with their pathetic temper tantrums. Hopefully those who are fighting the Church will eventually be quiet and realize they are just fighting with the Cross and will eventually pick up their crosses and carry them to heaven!

Thank heaven for Hugo Chavez. Since Fidel is no longer able to give 6 hour speeches as in the past, it is up to Hugo to provide the entertainment.

“I am Catholic and I feel sorrow when the cardinal talks like a troglodyte and he tries to scare people about communism.” --Hugo Chavez

Sure wouldn’t want anyone worrying about global communism, which only killed about 100 million people during its heyday.

Well, it seems nobody is going to tell Chavez to stop his criticism. He is a politician, after all, and quite popular at that. I wonder what effect his remarks had on his constituents?

I doubt it will have much impact at all. Despite being president, Chavez has cultivated an image similar to that of some of our mouthier talk show hosts. People know his statements are over-the-top, but they think in many cases that these are things that need to be said, and they appreciate him standing up for the country against figures representing more-powerful or more-developed nations. Just as JimG suggested Chavez is entertainment for us, Chavez is also entertainment for his own people.

So are you saying Chavez is Satan, or just one of his demons?
