I am curious about what is the chain of command for the Bishop of the Armed Forces in the US, as well as in other countries.

Argentina recently “dismissed” the corresponding bishop there, after he suggested a government minister should be thrown in the sea with a millstone around his neck, because he was pro-abortion. The effect of this “dismissal” is simply loss of salary; the Church of course has the authority to leave him in place or replace him.

Is the same situation in effect in the US? The Bishop’s salary is paid by taxpayers, but he is ultimately answerable only to Rome?

In these case the militar bishop answered with hardness the pretension of the leftist goverment in Argentina lo legalize abortion, these goverments are got used to not having internal oposition and wanted that the Pope cease him, thanks to God, the Pope have stand up, because we need strong bishops for hard times

Ok, but my question is whether the state pays the salary of the Bishop for the Armed Forces. I was wondering about the US, but what is the situation in Spain? Also, I know that in some European countries the Church is funded by the state, very different from what happens in the US. Is this the case in Spain?

Thanks for your answer.

Maybe you can find what you are looking for at the website for the Archdiocese for the Military Services in the United States.

All bishops report to the Pope.

In the case of the Archbishop to the military, he is appointed by Rome but serves with the military at their discretion. If they don’t want him around military personnel, he wouldn’t be.

He pulls a pay check as far as the service he does for the chaplain corps.
