Yeah, pretty much as useless as Reiki has proven to be.

But if some get benefit from it, let them be.

Hi,
The popularity of chakras and ‘spiritual energy’ in the west today is, i believe, the result of western scientism. The belief that only science can discover truth. Because what we are seeing here is scientifically demonstable spirituality. Where today for spiritual realities to be held as true they must have scientific plausability. The problem with this is that it subtley makes spiritual realities into physical realities. That is why there is such confusion over the non-physical and the physical in reiki and healing energy etc. Ki is seen as a non-physical energy but yet ‘we recieve it from food, sleep and sunshine’. How can we recieve non-physical from physical things. And how can chakras which are a certain colour, ocuppy a certain area of your body and which apparently rotate, be spiritual? They sound very physical.
In getting involved with these things you will eventually see God as just another physical energy. As something you can control. The opposite of what is true. God is not some scientific principle which can be manipulated. He is not somewhere in science, rather science is somewhere in Him.
Morality also suffers in this new age thinking because as someone said already said a broken heart can be fixed through proper chakra allignment. This means that there is no need to patch things up in real life but only to get your ‘spirit fixed’ by these charlatans. You can see where this leads.
Really what needs to be done for anyone who feels a draw to this new age chakra non-transcendent energy stuff, is for them to realise that science is not the only route to truth and it is ok to hold your soul, God and all spiritual realities as being outside of science. Thus not reducing them to material reality.
Hope that insight is helpfull to some1.
God bless.

What brought me to this thread is about how “Fluoride calcifies the pineal glad” which was mentioned to be relevant to the 3rd eye and if this gland truly plays a role in our life and or spiritual life how to keep it healthy.

I believe that being healthy is a good thing spiritually and physically.
The chakra stuff certainly always comes off as new age, but at the same time is there anything to it like when 3 pagans (the magi) could read the stars and find Christ. We are to seek Wisdom where ever she can be found and is there any truth to such Systems being in us; I don’t think if so they are anything like the teaching on “chakra”, but at the same time if there is any truth to these physical areas in us how would we keep ourselves healthy.

I suppose the danger in this is believing that using toothpaste and drinking unfiltered water could clog my ability to listen to God speaking to me through dreams, vision, apparition… or even deprive me the ability to heal, speak in tongue, or other more spiritual God given gifts if I am not paying mind to these sort of things that are only seemingly mentioned by people into the eastern spiritualism / spiritism… and then instead of praying to God, the Saints or living Christ like…I go watch chakra enhancing hypno therapy and perhaps get into spiritism, because of thinking God is limited by my health or that I should be capable of spiritual things according to my own will…

Then I ask my self if saying the rosary daily will keep me in athletic physical condition, or must I take means to do so;
And if I am not avoiding things that can be harmful to my mind and body that even effect my spiritual life we may as well all touch lead regularly and even put it in our food.

My point or question being that mainly when looking at the Pineal gland; does it play a role in our life other than producing Melatonin?
I do not recall Jesus or the Apostles ever telling us to get energy alignments, but at the same time are “physician” more broad than ERs, and the common family Doctors…
Are these Spiritual matters in us not addressed through the Sacraments…
I suppose what it comes to in the end is that a calcified penal gland can alter the state of a person’s mind with a chemical imbalance and disturbed circadian rhythm.

I had a masseuse one time that was recommended by my chiropractor, and I have no idea her spiritual beliefs but part of the “massage” consisted of her moving her hands about 6" above my body, and stopping and concentrating over various areas as if she was manipulating my “aura” or something. She may have mentioned “reiki” or chakras. I can’t recall. I considered this portion of the massage a ripoff.

IMO, don’t pay someone to “realign” invisible energies that you have no known connection to. If you can’t feel the chakra how could you discern when it feels better?

What did you find out about it? I wonder if the pineal gland just calcifies with age. “Your young men will have visions, and your old men will dream dreams.”

Yeah, I just don’t want to pay for it when they are working on me. New Agey people are usually nice so there is no point in starting a row over it.

Chakra therapy is based upon a type of fictitious universal energy. It is founded upon the Hindu principle that the body contains seven energy centers known as chakras or meridians. These chakras supposedly have the ability to receive, assimilate and transmit a life force energy known as “chi.” States of ill health are believed to be due to distortions in the chakra system which prevent the life force energy from freely flowing in and out of the body. Each chakra is believed to resonate with a particular frequency or vibration and are balanced back to their natural state of vibration by a variety of means, such as using light, sound, aromas, touch, etc. There are many problems with the use of this kind of “energy” medicine/massage, many of which are can be found in the USCCB’s condemnation of Reiki. No Catholic should be involved with this dangerous modality.
