I wish the Chaldeans would go back to the traditional Qorbono…Another article on the Chaldean Church, specifically, about Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly, released yesterday in the New York Times.

Peace and God Bless!
What do you mean?I wish the Chaldeans would go back to the traditional Qorbono…
Out here they have Liturgy facing the people, communion in the hand. I wish they’d go back to doing things right. What do you mean?
Are these latinizations prevalent in all Chaldean parishes? Are they now part of their liturgical norms, or are they viewed as innovations and deviations from the norms?Out here they have Liturgy facing the people, communion in the hand. I wish they’d go back to doing things right.
I may have to check it out. I live only about 1/2 mile from the Chaldean Cathedral here in Southfield. Are these latinizations prevalent in all Chaldean parishes? Are they now part of their liturgical norms, or are they viewed as innovations and deviations from the norms?
And I live just a few miles from St. Joseph in Troy. It’s a very large church, situated on a major surface street, and I’ve seen police directing traffic on particularly busy days.I may have to check it out. I live only about 1/2 mile from the Chaldean Cathedral here in Southfield.
I’m guessing the reformed mass has not come into effect wherever you are (where are you?)Out here they have Liturgy facing the people, communion in the hand. I wish they’d go back to doing things right.
Agreed… same here. There’s a sizable Chaldean population in our city, so I share your concern. The suffering of the Chaldeans in particular and Iraqi Christians in general is a matter close to my heart.
All I know is I attended Liturgy in El Cajon twelve years ago and they had communion in the hand and versus populum. How are things done now?I’m guessing the reformed mass has not come into effect wherever you are (where are you?)
There have been a lot of changes and you can read about them here.
Did you read that link? All I know is I attended Liturgy in El Cajon twelve years ago and they had communion in the hand and versus populum. How are things done now?
I did read the link a moment ago, and I am all for reinstating the Sanctuary Veil and celebration ad orientem, as well as ending communion in the hand.Did you read that link?
There is only by Intinction in San Diego now. I cannot recall a time when it was otherwise, but maybe I was too young to tell.
Why wouldn’t you ask him to celebrate the Qorbono? You get Divine Liturgy every week and had a Chaldean bishop with you. It seems logical you would take the opportunity to experience it!When bishop Ibrahim came to speak at our event in October we inquired as to whether or not he would be willing to officiate at a Byzantine (Ukrainian) liturgy. He declined primarily because the liturgy he knew is so much different from the Byzantine liturgy. My impression is that it is something resembling the NO. But I could be wrong.

hahaSupport bacteria. They’re the only culture some people have.
Don’t you think that’s kind of a long time past on which to base a statement that they should do away with latinizations? All I know is I attended Liturgy in El Cajon twelve years ago and they had communion in the hand and versus populum. How are things done now?
