I posted this over in the vocations forum but I wanted to share it here.

How are the vocations for priests/nuns looking at everyone else’s local diocese?
 
That looks awesome, John! Currently for both Maronite Eparchies in the US there are only 4 Seminarians with another coming from Lebanon next year, I believe. I hope to join their ranks in a few years, insha’allah. I don’t know how other Churches are doing with pushing for vocations, but I know the Maronites could be pushing harder…😦

There are actually about 7 seminarians in the Chaldean Diocese here in Detroit. One of them will be ordained next year 🙂

can a married man become a priest in the chaldean rite? I hear there’s a seminary now in san diego.

Yes a married man can become a priest in the Chaldean Rite, but I don’t think it’s done unless there is a dire shortage of priests. I don’t think there are any men who were married and ordained a Chaldean priest in the U.S.

Yes it is the Chaldean Rite of the Catholic Church, but Chaldean Rite Churches are called Chaldean Catholic Church, like St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church for example.

The Chaldean Catholic Church is a rite within the Catholic Church so it is therefore the Chaldean Rite.

I think his point is that the Chaldeans are a full sui juris Church within the Catholic Church, not just a rite.

e.g. the Ambrosian is a rite within the Latin Church, but not a Church itself.
