Chaminade --Catholic University

I’m thinking about going to Chaminade University after highschool. Anybody here been there, or know much about it (other than what’s online).
I know it’s a Catholic University, but they say that only about 40% of the students are Catholics, and they are pretty into the whole “social justice” thing. Sounds like their business program is pretty good. And, the fact that it’s located in Honolulu, isn’t bad either. 😃

I know the IDEA of living in Hawaii to go to college sounds nice, but I don’t imagine many people from the mainland US would really want to go there for college. Things tend to be more expensive there, it’s so far away you wouldn’t be able to go see any friends from anywhere else very often- or have them come see you very often, it would be hard to call family and friends on the mainland (Pacific time is 2 hours later than Hawaii time). Save Hawaii for a vacation- or maybe a job that pays you well enough to live there. I’d choose a mainland location if I were you.
 
I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I have lived on island nations as a missionary in the Caribbean. Island living can be very isolating if you don’t have a support system. It’s not as if you can jump on a train, bus or in your car and go home for Thanksgiving dinner, unless you have time and money to do so. Be careful what you’re getting into. I don’t mean the school. I mean living that far away from home, unless you have a support system and the money to come home as often as you would like. I have a friend whose son is there and they get to see each other once a year, because of the trip.

I have considered the not being able to see people. and such already, and it’s making me unsure about wanting to go there.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that on TV. The Military Academy.
That’s cool. :cool:

I suppose if I am accepted somewhere in the “48-clumped”, I will just go there, instead of to Chaminade.
