At mass last Sunday my pastor announced that the English language text of the baptismal vows is being changed. Has anyone else heard of this and/or have any details. The announcement was a little vague and benign sounding.

This is not entirely accurate.

The Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments has confirmed the Order of Baptism of Children, second Edition for use in the dioceses of the United States with the ability to use the new edition beginning February 2, 2020 and the requirement to begin using it April 12, 2020.

The sacramental formula of Baptism remains unchanged.

The new edition of the Order of Baptism of Children reflects the updated language in the new Roman Missal promulgated in 2011 and the language already used in the Easter Vigil liturgy when baptizing adults.

You can read about it here:

I love it when someone can give an authoritative answer complete with documentation!

Well, the reason I know is because I’m the church mouse who gets things done in my parish, and our diocesan chancery bulletin a month or so ago announced parishes needed to order the new books and have them by X date.
