Unfortunately, most of the time asking for a more traditional music repertoire leads to your being ostracized, ignored, or considered a “know-it-all”. I’ve seen it happen before.

I am sorry that you are having difficulty with the music at Mass. I can understand. I still do not like a guitar only mass. I didn’t like the drums either. UNTIL I started going to the church where we moved and I joined the choir. I was a little taken back by the piano too as I was used to an organ. As I said until I joined the choir. Once I got involved with the music ministry and found a great community of singers (some very good, some not so good) but all singing to the Glory of God my feeling changed. Not only did I start to appreciate the more modern music but my faith was strengthened greatly. I agree with the other member that you should maybe join the choir. I will keep you in my prayers that you will be become more comfortable in your beliefs. God Bless.

Wow, if anything, many of the new settings seem to be encouraging choirs to go in the other direction–toward more traditional music.
You obviously haven’t heard any of the three settings promoted by the CCCB. 😉

That’s a great idea.

It’s similar to how I never say “back to the people,” but instead, “facing the altar.” 😉
But he’s always ‘facing the altar’ while celebrating Mass. ‘Facing in the same direction as the people’ works for me.🙂

Yes, that’s what happened in our parish.

And it didn’t go over well (very poorly-written chants that were un-pretty), and we are in the process of getting back to more melodic music.
