Change of name legal?

Hi,
I was wondering priests and nuns that change their names when entering an order (not as popular now, but it happens) if that is legally changed too? I know they change back to their baptisimal name if they leave at any point, so probably not, but I wondered if drivers licences, etc. are altered to show their new name. It can get confusing otherwise.
My son was not interested in that particular type of order, so he never looked into it.

According to the law in most states, y ou can call yourself anything you want to as long as there is no intention to defraud people.

I use my secular name on my DL, dealing with the government, and such–and my religious name the rest oif the time.
