Have we reached a dead end? I can’t see any way ahead, other than adding an s to form whirlpools, but then what?

The rules say that if there’s no way forward, we go back to the previous word – in this case poorwill – and try to advance from there. And then, if that’s no good, we go back one further step to woollier, and so on.

Anybody?
