Do you mean to suggest that when Constantinople was built, the pre-eminent Church changed?

Have you heard of the “New Rome”? 😃

I am saying that Rome separated herself from the other four Patriarchates—and it weakened Her.

You know, someone who did not know history could say that there is another factor here.

Constantinople and the Eastern Patriarchs were jelous of Rome. The pushed the emperor to move the capitol, knowing that it could st another Church up as “first among equals.” Rome, however, would not conceed the “throne” and we end up broken.

Not saying that is right, but someone who did not know better might see it that way 🙂

I know that it wasn’t. I am saying that it could seem that way if you did not know anything about the situation. Terms like “new Rome” contribute to it.

But you and I know there is a rich history with that title and it has nothing to do with petty jealousies.

The problem with debate forums is that we are always looking for things to debate.

The immense articles of faith that are shared between the Catholic and Orthodox Church is often overlooked.🙂

First among equals, the See of {Peter} Rome. Jealousy, power and pride, the ways of men, are always at odds with the ways of God.

I know. To me a greater tragidy is that we do not learn from eachother. Both sides have insights into things that the other does not.

Where can one learn of these insights? What teachings, i.e. Humanae Vitae, et al, are available for reading from the Holy Catholic Orthodox Church?
 
First among equals, the See of {Peter} Rome. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Not because men decided, but because Jesus chose.

Well, that is a difficult question. There are no encyclicals like we are used to. There is information out there, though. If we pick a topic and ask, some links might be given. JPII was a big fan of the Eastern Church as shown when he gave us the Mysteries of Light for the Rosary.

What is the biggest stumbling block keeping the Church from being One?

Is it, you are not first Rome, you are not infallible when teaching on faith and morals? Or is there something more, something to do with pride and power and the root of all evil?

You seem knowledgeable, do you know of a particular insight that belongs solely to the Eastern Church?

Please expound on the relationship between the Eastern Church and the Luminous Mysteries.
