I think it was a guess; I seem to recall stories of priests who were incarcerated by various countries who would say Mass with a minimal amount of wheat to make a host and a minimal amount of wine, both of which were smuggled in.I don’t absolutely know. However, if I were to make an informed guess I would say no. My answer is no for two reasons. The Consecration alone is not the Mass in any of its current approved forms, so the Consecration on its own is not Mass. However, I think that’s more of an academic exercise than anything that’s really likely to happen. More pragmatically, I’d say no because it’s totally and absolutely prohibited to consecrate the sacred species outside Mass.
Given that they were generally held in dire circumstances, they would not have any books at all; so the Liturgy of the Word would be impossible. They would have to say the Liturgy of the Eucharist from memory.
