Changing Parrishes Due To Doubts?

Aside from my own battle with doubts, I have come to suspect the priest in my nearby parrish is all about power, and very little about faith. In fact he may even be a fake.

I wish to go somewhere else for this major reason as well as some minor reasons. I work shiftwork, so there is nothing I can do at any parrish but barely squeeze in a Mass. So I feel invisible and sense I am being talked at by a power broker. Does it violate rules to go to Mass elsewhere?

How could your parish priest possibly be a fake??
Fake would mean he is not an ordained priest. That doesn’t make sense!

Regardless of what you think of your priest, it is OK to go to another parish. You can go because you like one’s homilies more, or another’s organist more.

It’s doubtful that your priest is a “fake” - as in, not legitimately ordained. But, there certainly are unpleasant and insincere people in the priesthood - as in any field.

So, if this parish priest upsets you, then find a Mass somewhere else and don’t worry about it.

No.

But we should be members of our community parish, as it needs the congregation’s upkeep and support.

The personality of the priest is never an issue other than to himself, and the sacraments he dispenses are sanctioned by Christ regardless. I go to other parishes because I like classic cathedrals every once in a while rather than modern, and I know that’s not a good excuse.

Y’all are too uptight. Make your mass obligation. Worry about the speck in your eye., not Father’s. You think Satan ain’t after Priests?

If you do know something sinful he has done, then perform a private work of spiritual mercy and correct him–if you are sure.

Otherwise, go to Mass where you need to go to get closer to Christ, fulfill your obligation, and try to clear your heart of any hard feelings about others, but pray for them instead.

Scuse me, now, I gotta about a score of two by fours to get outa my own eyes!
