Changing up the Litany

So here is a question, if I wanted to change the Litany, for instance the Litany for the Poul Souls in Purgatory and I wanted to add some things is that allowed?

Can I add to it as long as I don’t take away?

For instance I wanted to add
For all the Holy Souls in Purgatory
For all those who died in Natural Disasters

and a couple of other things…

Our Pastor encourages this practice regarding litanies. He suggests that once you’ve been praying one for a while, begin to add some of your own petitions to use privately.
