Chant Music?

I was praying the Rosary just now, and I just had the strongest urge to listen to Gregorian chants while I prayed it. I am sure that the Blessed Mother inspired this to me, because I have never really heard chant music before, much less pray w/ it in the background. After finding a short chant online, I prayed. I do not think I can pray the rosary without chant music ever again, so now I am in a delimma. I have NO idea where I can find some good chant music, nor which chants are really good or not. Any help would be appreciated, because I would really enjoy being able to pray with this music.

My reference of praying is to be able to pray anywhere, anytime. If you rely too much on the surroundings, you might have problem praying in the future.

For example: if you would be depended on the music in order to pray the rosary, can you still pray the rosary inside the Church with others?

I have a sticky thread for Catholic music in theTraditional Catholic forum, which of course includes chant. There are several posts there with differant Mass settings in Gregorian Chant, along with some sequences, motets and other prayers set to chant.

There is also a selection of sacred polyphony, which is based on the style of Gregorian chant but uses many voices instead of one single voice.

The one I have is called Gregorian Chant sung by the choir of King’s College Cambridge and put out on the EMI Classics record label. It is an attempt to show what the college would have sounded like prior to the reformation. There are two works – Mass for the Octave of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and First Vespers for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Oh don’t worry. I might have made it seem like I had to have music to pray. I can pray anywhere, anytime. And I do on occasion. It just felt really nice to have some mellow music in the background and if I have the opportunity to play music, why not?
I appreciate the concern over my spiritual growth :).
 
Are there any chants you like specificaly? Which Mass setting in the Kyriale do you like the most? 🙂
