Chanting the Tridentine Lectionary in Vernacular

I understand that from Pope Benedict XVI’s motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, that the Readings “may be given in the vernacular”;

Art. 6. In Masses celebrated in the presence of the people in accordance with the Missal of Bl. John XXIII, the readings may be given in the vernacular, using editions recognised by the Apostolic See.

Therefore, one could conclude that this means they can be both read and chanted in the vernacular by the Deacon and Subdeacon, still using the Tridentine Lectionary. Is this legitimate? Surely it would be if it is permissible to chant from the Novus Ordo Lectionary at this Mass.

Also, if it were a Low Mass, could the vernacular readings replace the Latin readings or
can the vernacular readings only be read in after the Latin ones have been read?

As Universae Ecclesiae (if memory serves) clarifies, the permission to do the readings in the vernacular (1) means not reading them in Latin at all, but rather in the vernacular only at the time when they would normally be given, and (2) applies only to the low Mass. Therefore they cannot be chanted. At a sung Mass, at which often the readings, or at least the Gospel, are repeated in the vernacular during the sermon, I don’t suppose there is anything forbidding their being chanted, but it would certainly be unusual.
