"The great Canonical Defender, Dr. Ed Peters has an interesting note on the use… here we go again… about women wearing head coverings in church.

He has something from Cardinal Burke in the topic.

But first, in a nutshell here is the truth: In the Latin Church women are not bound by the Church’s positive law to wear head coverings in church. If they want to, they can. Period. Not much more to say.

Not much more to say? Every time I post on this question, scores of comments are made.

I usually refrain from visiting that site, but I took a look anyway. Wish I hadn’t. I quit reading after the first paragraph made negative and disparaging comments about the Mass in Ordinary Form and the Second Vatican Council.

For those that have a strong interest in headcoverings,
a past post of mine shows just some of threads that have debated the veiling and head covering issue forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=10157303&postcount=2

Another objection is based upon the transitory character that one claims to see today in some of the prescriptions of Saint Paul concerning women, and upon the difficulties that some aspects of his teaching raise in this regard.** But it must be noted that these ordinances, probably inspired by the customs of the period, concern scarcely more than disciplinary practices of minor importance, such as the obligation imposed upon women to wear a veil on their head (1 Cor 11:2-16); such requirements no longer have a normative value**.

I make it a practice not to visit that website. I went ahead and clicked on the link. I wish I hadn’t. No surprise the very first paragraph was making a negative comment about the Mass in Ordinary Form. I quit reading after that.

If you are interested in women’s headcoverings, a past post of mine has links to some of the threads here on CAF that discuss that very subject. forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=10157303&postcount=2
