What can anyone tell me about this devotion?
Hi. 🙂 The Seven Sorrows bring to prayer, the seven sorrows of Our Lady (times of intense suffering/heartache/pain/struggle during Mary’s life).

Just found these from a search:

‘The Prophecy of Simeon. (Luke 2:34–35)
The escape and Flight into Egypt. (Matthew 2:13)
The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem. (Luke 2:43–45)
The Meeting of Mary and Jesus on the Via Dolorosa.
The Crucifixion of Jesus on Mount Calvary. (John 19:25)
The Piercing of the Side of Jesus, and His Descent from the Cross. (Matthew 27:57–59)
The Burial of Jesus by Joseph of Arimathea. (John 19:40–42)’

i learned this when I came to Ireland.

A neighbour brought to me to look at a Seven Sorrows rosary. Seven sets of seven beads and intricate silver medals at the intervals, It was a work of art and an heiirloom

I have made simpler ones, of Bethlehem Olive wood or beads. Happy to make them to order for t he work with babies and the homeless pm me?

I sold them as well as Francisan Crowns, with the devotion printed out.

For the instructions on how to pray it, there is another website which explains that better.

The Chaplet of the 7 Sorrows of Mary was revealed to St. Bridgett of Sweden. Later, it was encouraged to bring it back with Our Lady of Kibeho, (an apparition approved by the Catholic Church).

We say every Friday after Mass. I’ve been saying this beautiful prayer for over 4 years now; every night. :signofcross:

I was just wondering, how often are you supposed to pray the chaplet? Every day? Or is there a specific day?

Yes and no. It is comprised of beginning prayers then seven sets of seven hail Mary’s with no Glory be or Fatima prayers. begin each set of seven after announcing the sorrowful mystery with the Pater Noster. No other prayers as in the Dominican Rosary.

It is harder to remember to count the seven Hail Mary’s and not go beyond. I knew a priest that had a heck of a time not adding many of the traditional rosary prayers.

A Seven Sorrows Rosary (chaplet) is easy to obtain. 👍
