We have seen what men want in the future wives and so I decided to make the thread’s other half. Well, now that the women have seen our responses, it’s your turn! What do you look for in a husband? Just curious. 😃

Eamon

A well developed sense of protection of his family and stability. Bar none.

Second would be ability to handle stress well- not flippantly, but capably.

I chose poorly 18 years ago but if i could pick for my daughter it would be a strong Catholic Godly Man - if his heart and mind are focused on God all the rest will take care of itself.

Someone who comes from a good Christian family where their Father respected their Mother. I think we are largely a product of our environment & if we grow up in a healthy family, it’s more likely that we’ll follow the example set for us.

There are ALWAYS exceptions to this… people who rise above their terrible upbringing… but I think it’s very difficult.

How about a guy who is…

Faithful
Honest
Can deal with my wierdness
Catholic (truly)
Doesn’t mind I can’t hear well
Knows more about cars than I do so I don’t have to learn as much
Willing to teach me about stuff and not get frustrated
Likes children
Enjoys helping cook and clean (I like to, but sharing some jobs is nicer)
and…
it’d be nice if he could be good-looking and not mind I am short and love soccer and dance a little too much!

Well… to summerize this list… personaility and love for religion and me matter most. The good looks (like red hair) are just added bonuses… and I am quite certain that this list reminds me of someone very special I know… hehe:whistle:

I guess him liking :coffee: isn’t to bad either!

FINALLY HE MUST BE WILLING TO COMMUNICATE!!! relationships fail because of a lack of communication on both ends~

hehehe… read well… there is a test later!

Intelligent
Loving
Faithful
Communicative
Kinesthetic
Hard working
etc.
etc.
etc.
~ Kathy ~

P.S. Oh , and a liking for Starbucks is preferable !

God fearing and loving
Likes animals (can say a lot about a person)
Respects and loves his mother and sister(s)
Chooses his battles
Loves me without holding anything back
Steady job, good worker
Thinks about a future
Likes kids, is patient with them
Smart
Nice smile
Able to admit he was wrong, able to say “I’m sorry.”
Lets me be myself

Hey! I just described my man! 😃

ability and motivation to take his shoes and socks off in the garage after golfing or mowing grass.

I would like to add the abililty to put his shoes up after removing them. After 16 years of marriage, I have given up on my hubby putting his own shoes up.😃

I like everyone’s list but I think that a very well developed sense of humor should be added. Sometimes life is tough and laughing can ease hardship.

Ha - finally a thread I can answer:

Devout Catholic to be head of the household and be the man
Loving and affectionate
Stable
selfless
and on board with the theology of the body

(I would also love a man who would ocasionally rub my back or feet - my idea of heaven on earth.)

Someone who listens, and that the sound of your voice is not just static in the background.
Someone who laughs often, with you, not at you.
Someone who likes to play, not a husband who knows only two modes;work and rest.
Someone who is willing to give up control to God.
Someone who understands he cannot solve all the problems, but he can still console you.
Someone who hugs you when you least expect it.

I am curious, is this from your own personal experience of growing up in a “terrible upbringing”, or is this your observation and having grown up in a “healthy family”?

#1 Catholic obviously i.e. strong into his faith (preferably stronger than me so that I can learn from him), stands up for what he believes in, has a good spiritual/social balance, will be head of the house, no roving eye :nope: etc

#2 Thoughtful

#3 Good sense of humour (preferably of the slagging type) 🙂

#4 A guy who likes good philosophical debates, likes debating and discussing the ins and outs of life and questions of faith etc

#5 A guy who would like a stay at home wife (when kids come along) and would support her 100% and that would have the same ideas about how to raise kids

#6 A guy who “Lives life to the full” (John 10v10)

**Not important: **
High paying job (though enough to eat and live on would be nice 😃 )
Good looking (but I do have to be attracted somewhat to him physically 🙂 )
“blond hair and blue eyes” or
“black hair and brown eyes” cos it’s what’s inside that counts

Not important:
Hair (any)

Important:
Commitment to sheltering his family
Personal and public integrity

Overrated:
Communication. If you’re really a team, you don’t need much. If you’re really a team, you can say what you need to say without holding a board meeting.

I always tell my husband he’s the luckiest man in the world because I’m not always after him to “talk about our relationship.”
